This CC Adcock album is really good.

Definitely. Those lads could certainly play!

Clive.... Did you notice that we have the makings of a band in those last three posts to this thread? Ew on drums, yourself on guitar, myself on bass.

Now there's a thought indeed. I think we all have some musical taste in common too!

Dr. Feelgood - Down By The Jetty (1975 - Mono)

Original vinyl

CD Rip streamed from my NAS: The Doobie Brothers - "Long Train Runnin' 1970 -2000"

The brilliant Doobie Brothers sounding absolutely fantastic played (very) loud late at night. Luckily, I live in a detached house and have understanding neighbours.

Not an artist I especially like but this was a brilliant debut album that came out at an especially difficult time in my life.  I used to listen to it in bed with thelight out and drift away and, like all good albums, it has a mood all of its own.

Haim,

i highly recommend no.5 : )

Thanks, Debs.

I just received a great double disc of Hamish Milne playing small works of Medtner also on Hyperion. Perhaps we should ask Doug who owns all ten Bach transcriptions to rank them for us.

Regards,

Haim

After a rave review by EJ I had no choice but to get it. You could do the same, EJ, and take my recommendation. It is a real masterpiece (Don't Look Back).

One of my favourite Shostadiscs - became acquainted with the piano trio a few years ago while driving home from work, and getting stuck in a traffic jam; BBC Radio 3 kindly obliged by distracting a fine 11 minutes and 28 seconds of bumper to bumper boredom by airing the Allegretto : )

Paul Simon. Graceland. The original 1986 CD. Superb recording and SQ with a musical diversity that still sounds as fresh now as it did nearly 30 years ago.

Witold Rowicki/Warsaw National Orchestra plays Lutoslawkis' Concerto for Orchestra.

The conductor was the dedicatee of the score.

40 years old vinyl, still sounding great.

CSNY. Deja vu. One of my early CD purchases circa 1987. Still sounding great.

Haim, I would - but blues just isn't my thing...

Sure is.

My high res. copy.

My favourite is the 'Our House'. The drums remind me of Ringo's.

Posted on: 17 December 2014 by joerand

Kuma,

I've got two early vinyl pressings. One with the black cover you show, the other with the more traditional brown cover. Each has the pasted-on photo like yours. I prefer the vinyl to the CD. The HDCD versions seem to have a boosted and rather plodding bottom end.

The Very Best Of Deep Purple. On CD from 2000. A great compilation, though I have to wonder if this is indicative of DPs best sound quality. I need to get some DP vinyl, but all the copies I've come across are in pretty rough condition.
