Hello Steve I have just joined the B&W members club and must say that I am impressed. Is the 24 bit Tubular Bells really better than the CD as I was thinking of buying it too? Thank You

Same to you, George.

I can vouch for the first third, the piano concertos of Tchaikovsky and Medtner.

EJ, another very good performance of Sudbin with the Minnesota Orchestra is Beethoven's fourth and fifth piano concertos:

My favorite solo disc of his is the Scriabin, also on BIS.

Haim

Hello Haim,

Thanks - his Scriabin disc is fantastic, it was my first encounter with this remarkable pianist. I've not yet got around to his more mainstream work but hope to do so soon.

A lot of that question depends on what copy of the CD you have?

One of the highlights of 2014: the Sitkovetsky trio with a Czech programme. The group's first recording, and also their last with Leonard Elschenbroich, who left the team a few weeks ago.

Michel Block, Belgian born, a member of the Indiana University music faculty and a gifted pianist who remain most of his life in obscurity with the exception of the 1960 Fredric Chopin International Competition where he highly impressed Arthur Rubinstein. Beautifully played a Chopin and Scriabin disc.

It is many years since I last listened to this programme, and I cannot believe the negativity of the reviewing style. By now it is obvious to me that we really do not know what Schubert quite had in mind!

ATB from George

I always considered "the unfinished" the most finished of Schubert´s symphonies.

Mine was a free download. I would have just bought a good CD version otherwise.

I rarely download hi-res files but these two were a bargain totalling £6.58 for both on Qobuz.

Steve,

I thought you had a quality original and a HD CD

Another Xmas pressie and my first listen of Tori's latest album.  As with her other albums, the reproduction is first class. Glad I've expanded my collection of her music.  She's a talented lady.
