HAWKWIND  -PALACE SPRINGS -   on c.d. from 1991

recorded live on Space Bandits tour of USA, and then studio enhanced, as was Space Ritual, to leave a very polished, mellow, sound - has some old classics from Warrior At The Edge Of Time and Quark Strangeness And Charm, and longish instrumental bits. Nice.

CD - Alpha © 2003 : )

Sophie Wattilon - basse de viole

Friederike Heumann - basse de viole

Xavier Diaz - theobe & guitare baroque

Evangelina Mascardi - guitare baroque

Luca Gugliemi - clavecin

Recorded Namur, Belguim 2002

~<>~

Sophia Wattilon, who sadly died in 2005 [age 39] had the most beautiful style of playing a bass viol.

Very recommended!

(YouTube sample below is CD track 10. Plainte)

Vinyl rip. First heard her "Lake Charles" track on the Tru Blood OST CD and am enjoying this her first album on her own label.

Having tried new CDs over recent days, I thought I'd return to something very well know and very reliable.  One of the classic albums IMO, and one I never tire of.

CotC has prompted a play of this. Supertramp's second best album for me.

On my drive back and forth to the Netherlands for Christmas. I had an intensive listening session for John Coltranes box heaven weight champion. Sound quality was better as expected, music out of this period of his career is quite good, but less experimental. Definitely a recommended box.

Christmas Collection 2014.

As they say, a way to "explore and expand your musical tastes with a host of magical recordings".

Ashkenazy/Cleveland's Emperor Concerto fairs much better than the 1st Concerto.

One of the most romantic Adagio I have heard on this piece.

Piano is confident even playful at times and shows full of personality. Expressive orchestration and expansive pianism yet he keeps the score down to earth.

This is a lot more in-tune than his previous stodgy Solti/Chicago set.
