Road Apples

The record label didn't like the bands original name for the album so for a laugh they suggested Road Apples which is a slang word in certain parts of Canada for Frozen Horse shit. The label not knowing what it meant liked it and so is why it is called Road Apples.

It has been that kind of day where nothing but The Hip would do.

Hybrid ~ Wider Angle (2007) Limited Edition

This is the 2 CD expanded version of their original album Wide Angle from 1999. The second CD being some of their live gigs from Tokyo in (I think) 2002

A marvellous collection of Rameau from Jordi Savall, stunningly recorded. Another Xmas pressie:

Anderszewski's approach to Schumann is clean and classical. A CD that has needed a couple of years to grow on me. Glad I persisted, it's now one of my favorite Schumann recitals.

Indeed.

On USB. Danjulo Ishizaka's recital for Onyx is stunningly recorded (albeit only available at standard resolution) and smartly programmed, with great but comparatively rarely heard works for cello solo and cello / piano. I had not heard of the cellist or the pianist before; on this evidence they have a presence to be reckoned with.

Cheers

Another Xmas pressie which has been on my list-to-get for quite a while.  Listening to CD1 at the moment. The sound quality is delightful. Much better than Beatles' White Album I bought yesterday which I found too shrill.
