CBS original vinyl
Jackson Browne "The Very Best Of ......" disc 1
Original 1st press Harvest. I don't think I've played this since I first bought it as I thought it was just Roger Waters being self indulgent. I thought I'd give a try now. So far into side one, it's OK but certainly not one of their best. I'm sure there will be many who disagree.
next Dream Theatre ...
Love some of these covers too
Joining you in playing this. Not up on Dream Theatre but enjoying this a lot
Vinyl
Along time since this has been available. Recently rereleased on ECM on CD (for first time), vinyl and soon to be hi-def download. Abercrombie and Towner, Five Years Later.
next Dream Theatre ...
Love some of these covers too

The 'A Dramatic Turn of Events' album is also very good.
the first in high res on the NDS, impressive..
The xx debut,
this is so much better than the London grammar effort! From start to finish from the first note to the last. So glad I put this on, it is like a breath of fresh air!

It's a good album Steve, worth persevering with (see my reply to you on the "Selling England By The Pound" thread).
I have both the first press Harvest, but also a Sony-Columbia first press Jap LP, which sounds even better. It's a stunningly recorded and produced LP, I think.

highresaudio.com These chaps have Black Clouds, Systematic Chaos, Dream Theater, Dramatic Turn of Events as 96 FLAC downloads.
The second side is growing on me. I'm not a huge fan of the Floyd, apart from the earlier albums.
Cc,
what's going on here?
Just checked this out... The mrs was like " what is this" !
Kk
I just dunno, kk. He put out some interesting (though not always listenable) EPs before his first album that don't sound like the stuff he's done since, and I guess you know he used to play with Mount Kimbie for a while, and his 'Limit To Your Love' is a pretty good cover...
But everything since is pretty much unlistenable for me - I remember posting here about the EP he did with Bon Iver - that was a shocker!
Me an my good wife just came to the same conclusion. Moments of class but just too much sheeeeeit! Back to some class
Read last reply! Just ordered the one u dropped!!!!
Genesis - Wind and Wuthering
Seems appropriate considering the weather at the moment
Nah Tony, that distinction belongs to A Momentary Lapse of Reason, which is dreadful. No feeling, no soul, banal lyrics, godawful power ballads, slap-bass shenanigans, horrible 80s drums, no real tunes. At least Waters always means it.
Anyone who says Gilmore wasn't emotionally involved in creating it is talking rubbish, he's guitar sounds so emotionally raw on it.
He wasn't emotionally involved Char. I know this because he told me.
It's a mark of Gilmour's skill and commitment as a guitarist that he turned in some great work on an album he disliked. His one vocal on The Final Cut ("Not Now John") is bloody good too.

New album out in March, produced by Tim Friese-Greene. Kevin, Firefly are doing a residency @ the Gladstone, starting 16 Feb if you fancy it.
Oh & Jeff, this is highly recommended
