The Flies - "All Too Human", cd.

Posted on: 05 February 2014 by patk

Rainy day, in a mellow music mood.  So far this morning:

Neil Young - Live At The Cellar Door

First listen.  Surprised by the piano version of 'Cinnamon Girl.'  Very cool.

The Milk Carton Kids - Prologue

A few weeks ago, someone referred to the musical style like Simon & Garfunkel.  I agree with that.

Now:  Lost In The Trees - A Church That Fits Our Needs

Been listening to their two albums a lot lately.  Looking forward to their new record being released 18 Feb in the US.

Format:  Apple Lossless on iPod (using output from 30 pin connection)

Posted on: 05 February 2014 by Char Wallah

Judas Priest -"Sad Wings Of Destiny" on cd.

Bert,

I find the SQ of this U2 album terrible. On my old gear (Rotel CD&amp) this was not so obvious, but on my new Naim and B&W speakers it's clear how badly overproduced this album is.

So don't worry about your new NDS, it's Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois who messed it up. Listen to some classical music on your NDS and you will brighten up again!

Very good again indeed. A collection of unrelated songs so not the continuity of the Song cycles.

I was 'listening' during work so not really with full attention.

But his voice is beautiful as ever and the recording of customary Harmonia Mundi top quality.

i know there have been comments on his recent choice of pianists, but I didn't pay attention to them now.

bert: make sure you check the eclassical shop, as I expect them to release this cd within the coming week, and if they do it will be much cheaper than Qobuz

cheers

Sonic Youth - "EVOL" on cd. Nice vibe to this album.

Down loaded the FLAC version of Roy Harper's HQ last night.  It has been remastered and the brass band is not great on "the old cricketer ..." but its good to hear his voice again on my NDS.

A great LP Tony. I love the albums with Mick Abrahams on. I only discovered last week that someone I know at work has been a lifelong friend of his.

Yes, I agree Steve. The collaboration with Mick was very fruitfull before Ian took control of all aspects of songwriting/producing. This one is an i pink A2/B2 pressing and pretty good for less than 30 quid. I'm a happy bunny.

a lot of U2 being listened to here, time to duck!

this is the remastered version, not a revelation but doesn't sound too bad to me at all and the fact that the second CD has the "Wide awake in America" EP included makes it well worth the purchase. 1984 -  my first year in University, probably influencing my regard for this album.
