SJB: I love U2, although their music requires a top quality Naim system to do it justice.

Totally agreed, Sorren. I have all the Gregson Collister output and many of her solo albums. I think the live albums, 'Home and Away' by GC and Christine's 'Live' (especially this one) are my favourites.

this is the remastered version, not a revelation but doesn't sound too bad to me at all and the fact that the second CD has the "Wide awake in America" EP included makes it well worth the purchase. 1984 -  my first year in University, probably influencing my regard for this album.

I remember listening to this LP as a teenager whilst hanging out of my bedroom window smoking cigarettes  thinking how amazing it sounded on my Dual turntable powered by my NAD 3020 with wharf dale diamond II. Maybe it sounded great because i was hanging out of the window! Must dust it off and see if I still think the same (without the cigarettes!)

Sounding better than I remember, now ripped to NS01 and streaming through NDS.

1968 - first pressing.  Bought at local record store and recommended by one the of the guys that run teh shop. Never heard of them before. Perhaps it's one of those obscure bands that only Steve seems to know!

and I presume you have "back to back" as well, recorded at the same session, 2 excellent small combo jazz albums.

Rory could have used Van's title "a period of transition" for this album. Listening to the 2012 remaster which even Barry Daiment would approve of.

excellent guitar, piano, bass and drums: such a great great loss.

The unforgettable sausage.

Phew!  I think we're back to normal...for now! I really don't know what's going here at the  moment. We must gather before they take over and spread their audio obscenities!

time for a chronological trail through the great rock pioneers, just for Tony.

Nice. Great samples,  in particular the Island i Pink label and surprisingly well recorded.

Not very familiar with Verdi's work yet but I always enjoyed Sutherland's voice.

Listening to Stravinsky conducting his own always makes me realise how *off* most of the conductors are to keep the music fresh and alive. He's got so much more expressions to draw from.

Stravinsky's handling is mature and well thought-out but has a twinkle in his eyes. Good textures on percussion and more prominent piano gives it a macabre *off beat* feel. Stravinsky does not try to pretty up the tunes but his direct approach creates a captivating story telling.
