Twonky Folder View

Interesting post on Twonky and its folder view:

One poster says that folders are sorted alphabetically because kids buy individual MP3s and not whole albums, which makes sense.
WHY DO PEOPLE USE FOLDER VIEW? I just don't get it. nStream is not a file browser you are supposed to be looking at metadata.
for me It's a reliable backup in case the metadata views don't work or omit something. I often have to clear the uPnP cache on my nStream app
Er, because Beethoven wrote Symphony No.1 etc etc and genre, album artist and all the rest of the metacrap. And even if he had, I wouldn't trust the interns in the record companies to even spell his name write when putting on the metacrap as the woeful Rovi proves with virtually any classical record
And, er, why am I SUPPOSED to be looking at metacrap. I'm supposed to be listening to music
Sheesh
I and my better half use Twonky in folder view because it's easily understood, navigable and simple. We need metadata as much now as we did when we owned LPs. One day we (I) will own an HDX or RipNAS... Things may change then.
I'm getting rid of my Zyxel Nas which runs Twonky, going to get a ReadyNas and use MinimServer, that way I can actually listen to whole album (featuring artists) as intended. Sorting alphabetically is complete madness IMO.

Agreed! Why would anyone want to listen to 'The End' as the first track on 'Abbey Road'. My Qnap runs 'Wonky Twonky', and it's going as soon as funds become available. There is the facility to remove Twonky, and install MinimServer. However, when I looked at the instructions to do it, it was way, way beyond my IT skills.
Thanks to great advice from forum members, there is a way around it. If you download XLD, (which is free) open up an album, and put 01, 02 etc directly before the track name, it lists the tracks in their correct order. e.g. 01 Come Together.
Where there's a will, there's a way

Christ. Who has time for that?

Not me! DBPowerAmp adds the numbers by default, never had an album play out of its correct sequence, various artists or otherwise. However if I drop a bonus mp3 into an album folder ripped to wav it will only play the tracks individually, weird! I get round it by converting to a low quality wav, then re-add to folder, job done
