Many years ago when me and the late mrs h split,i had to go and see her at her new home in Heacham.....what a dump.....beat crops and lavender and sweet F A else.

One other thing i remember about Norfolk was a few years back we were driving To norwich for an away match on just a normal 2 way,but strait stretch of road,i was doing about 70 when this joker did an overtake on me. What was unusual about that you may wonder, well he was towing a caravan.

Mista h

PS....Hope non of you lot live in Heacham

I'd take Heacham over a dump like Croydon any day

Have to agree some parts of Croydon are crapp, but our road is nice and quite.

I split with the late Mrs H many years ago,but we get on better now than when we were married. On the rare ocasion when she comes to London she has dropped in and met with her replacement.

Even she admits the place is rubbish, and when i asked her why she moved to Heacham the reply was because it was cheap. Why was it cheap? well you seam a bright boy,you work it out.

When i said to her she should move back to London, her reply was she + new hubby could not afford to.

Dont get me wrong i like the country, and we own another house in kent, but Heacham...no way.

Give me Croydon any day of the week.

I suppose if you're used to Croyden, it's ok. If you were brought up north of Cambridge, Croyden might be hell on earth.

Brought up nearish to  Croydon (Epsom), and progressed through Fife, Sussex, Somerset, Devon and the Peak District before settling in Valhalla. Never looked back, except to confirm just how much I hated the claustrophobia of suburbia.

Epsom much nicer than Croydon, I think, Loki. And until Audio T closed down it used to have a good hi-fi store too. Croydon has good public transport links but it is unfriendly towards motorists and is desperately in need of investment in retail terms. A Westfield centre is mooted but it is at best many years away.

Dante once visited Croyden: it inspired him to write "Inferno", a powerful poetic vision of hell.

Things in favour of Heacham would seem to include: 1. It's a village. 2. It's near the sea. 3. The Fox and Hounds brew pub. 4. Pocahontas lived there (and no, she died at Gravesend).

If it wasn't for the job, I'd move to Norfolk in a shot. Always loved the area. Nice and quiet, beautiful scenery and lovely people.

Property prices are really good there. I think my 2 bed flat in Surrey would get me a 4 bed detached house that way.

Dear All,

Here in rural East Anglia , Suffolk for me there are 2 NAIM dealers, Norwich and Ipswich. Also John Lewis at Norwich.

What more is needed ?

I can walk to the beach in a couple of minutes. Walk into town in less than 10 mins.

Get a train down srf in 2 hours.

Even Norwich airport goes to some nice foreign places.

Also the NAIM owners I have met have all been very kind generous and friendly.

I have a 4/5 bed mid terrace Victorian house which is the price of a garden shed in London. So I have more money to throw at my hobbies.

The only down side will be my inheritance from property to family will be very much less than if I had a house in London. But that will not cause me any sleepless nights.

Suffolk is a beautiful part of UK, Norfolk is almost as nice.
