What was the first ever record you bought?

Are you proud to announce it or slightly embarrassed as your taste has changed?
Mine is A taste of honey - Boogie Oogie Oogie. I was 11yrs of age and it was number 1 in the chart
Disco is still sometimes a guilty pleasure...
and before anyone goes there, I'm happily married with a son!
Over to you....
Go on, It'll do you good to get it out there
The Best of Cream. I hitch hiked from Swaffham to Norwich to buy Disraeli Gears but they had sold out and so bought Best of instead. I still have it and the CD copy to go with it. Halcyon days.......
i fear this is going to be a bit confessional.....
first single: Little Willie by The Sweet
first album: Touch Me by Gary Glitter
.....forgive me Father for I have sinned! (I still like Rock and Roll Part 1 & 2 though!)
Album: Sing it Again, Rod - Rod Stewart
Single: See my Bay Jive - Wizard
Both bought with my own money, earned from helping the milkman.
This, but on cassette.
My first 45:
My first LP:
I still have both of them in my collection.

There's nowt wrong with disco in general, Tan, or "Boogie Oogie Oogie" in particular. Nothing to feel guilty about, pure pleasure all the way. I loved that record when it first came out and I still do.

Single:
First single was Sunny Afternoon by the Kinks. I was 12 and had just been in hospital with a broken arm. It's still one of my favourite songs.

First album
Bought in 1961 with hard earned money from my paper round!

That was the first record I was ever given. I think it was for Christmas.
The first LP I bought with my saved up pocket money:The Byrds - Younger Than Yesterday. I still have it hanging on my study wall.
Bought for my then girlfriend
....and the back side
I used to cycle into my nearest town (Hungerford) every Saturday (if the weather allowed) and spend my pocket money on a single (never bought any lp's) to play on my 'Champion" record player (complete with an old penny selotaped to the arm to make it track). I remember buying My Old Man's a Dustman, Deck of Cards, the Beatles, Monkeys etc etc etc. No idea which was the first one but I still buy when I get my pocket money.
Had it for about a week then my dad sat on it. He still says it was an accident but ...

A very brave man indeed to admit to buying deck of cards
Live Evil by Black Sabbath. It cost me about 5 quid, which was a lot of pocket money for me.
Not the best sound quality but Children of the Grave on that album was about as heavy as it gets from what I remember. Years since I heard it.
First LP: The version of 'Sitting On Top Of The World' thereon is my favourite song ever.

And this was the first single I bought at a small shop in Bridligton.

really? it's still one of my favourite Sabbath albums, a nice heavy sound to it...I had that and my next door neighbour gave me Talk of the Devil by Oz.... ,
Now that's the kind of neighbour you want
& "I Want to Hold Your Hand". As a present from my parents with my first record player!
