ND5 XS and n-Stream questions

Posted by: The Meerkat on 12 January 2014

Hi everyone

I am enjoying the delights of my ND5 XS and n-Stream.

My 1st question...A forum member recently showed a screen shot of his iPad displaying n-Stream. It showed a volume/mute control in the set up. I don't have that, and I am running the latest app version. Does perhaps, the ND5 have to be remotely wired to the Supernait to show that display?

2nd question...When I used n-Serve on a Unitiserve, I could view my CD library whilst still listening to the internet radio. However, when using n-Stream, I don't appear to be able to do that, I have to change inputs, and change from radio to UPnP. Is there a way to listen to the radio, whilst viewing/scrolling through my CD collection on n-Stream?

Last question... Would other sources, like sky box, Blu-ray player, etc, sound better wired directly to the ND5 XS, or into the Supernait. I understand that the DAC on the ND5 is superior to the Supernait's.

Thanks

yes, the ND5XS has to be wired to the supernait via the 3.5mm remote connection and have system automation enabled in order for the nstream to show the volume control.

Thank you engjoo for confirming that.

No, you can't look at your albums while listening to the radio. It's a right pain. The system needs the facility to view the collection and queue up albums, and then hit play to switch to upnp from radio.

Hopefully a future software release will enable this.

Cheers HH...agreed! There I am, happily listening to Radio Paradise, thinking, "let's see what CD I fancy playing next". Can't do it. fingers crossed for a software update!

Of course, if you had a UnitiServe, you could browse using nServe, while the radio plays happily. The fact you can't do it all in nStream is still rubbish though.

Totally agree with that. You have always had the capability to do this with Sonos, I hope it will get introduced to nStream ASAP
