What is the latest music you downloaded, what resolution and from where?

Posted by: Stevee_S on 13 January 2014

With more music being downloaded I thought it might be interesting to see what forum members are buying and from where.

The news that HD Tracks are soon to open an online UK store means that more choice is going to be available to us. The variety and quality of downloadable music we can choose from is expanding, MP3 to 24bit studio Masters at 192kHz and beyond.

So what are you buying and downloading?

This is excellent. Did you re-download it, as there was originally a glitch on one of the tracks? I mailed their admin on Saturday afternoon and Robert himself worked out what needed doing. It's good to communicate with the top man. He's so friendly and helpful.

Thanks for the tip Bert - just had a listen - sounds great so purchased and downloading now. Have not used band Camp before.

Bandcamp is a great source of new music. Through the connection with other people in Bandcamp you easily get to the good stuff.

Thanks for the information. I hadn't a chance to listen to it carefully yet since I downloaded it on Tuesday 22 March afternoon. Which track are your referring to ?

I although purchased 2 others recordings from that label Couperin: Trois leçons des ténèbres and Beethoven: Quartets Opus 18, which I find  excellent musically and in sound quality.

In that case it will be fine. The revised versions were uploaded on Sunday. It's funny that you mention the Couperin and Beethoven, as I bought those last week. I have all the Vivat recordings - they are very varied but all are superbly played and recorded. The two Purcell sonata albums are exceptionally good.

Hi Bert, Have you had any issues playing the albums you've purchased from bandcamp? I downloaded a John Stetch album the other day (WAV) have copied it onto my Qnap NAS (running Asset) but I can't see the album in the Naim app. Have restarted everything, including the NAS and no joy. I can see the album on my NAS when I look at the files from finder on my mac.

So far I haven't had any problems. But I have also to say that I only download flac and not Wav. So perhaps that's the reason. As I have downloaded a lot - I should have been hit with problems...

I always download Flac too (when purchasing from other sites) - have just double checked a realised I missed the flac download option on Bandcamp. Will re download Flac and see if that resolves the issue. Thanks Bert.
