Community Points:

From Hopla:
"We actually have intentionally decided not to reveal the formula for points accrual.  I can confirm that you do get different points for different actions, but we can't reveal the specifics.   The more activity a user generates in your community, the more points they earn, but there is a formula that weights certain activities more than others."

From Humpty Dumpty:
"There's glory for you!"

"I don't know what you mean by 'glory'" Alice said.

Humpty Dumpty smiled contemptuously. "Of course you don't--till I tell you. I meant, 'there's a nice knock-down argument for you!'"

"But 'glory' doesn't mean 'a nice knock-down argument,'" Alice objected.

"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in a rather scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean--neither more nor less."

"The question is," said Alice, "whether you can make words mean do many different things."

"The question is," said Humpty Dumpty, "which is to be master--that's all."

Alice was much too puzzled to say anything; so after a minute Humpty Dumpty began again. "They've a temper, some of them--particularly verbs: they're the proudest--adjectives you can do anything with, but not verbs--however, I can manage the whole lot of them! Impenetrability! That's what I say!"

"Would you tell me, please," said Alice, "what that means?"

"Now you talk like a reasonable child," said Humpty Dumpty, looking very much pleased. "I meant by 'impenetrability' that we've had enough of that subject, and it would be just as well if you'd mention what you mean to do next, as I suppose you don't mean to stop here all the rest of your life."

"That's a great deal to make one word mean," Alice said in a thoughtful tone.

"When I make a word do a lot of work like that," said Humpty Dumpty, "I always pay it extra."

"Oh!" said Alice. She was too much puzzled to make any other remark.

Hello, I have some links to old posts that now doesn't work anymore.
For example
https://forums.naimaudio.com/ev...212971417#5212971417
Or
https://forums.naimaudio.com/ev...222947427#7222947427
and others....
How to find these posts again?

Hello Guy (Roft)

Really good to see you again. Does this mean your Amiga can now access the forum?

Hope to read more from you in near future.

Regards
Peter

Will we be able to see all posts by a poster in the future.

I thought it was a great feature on the last forum.

Regards,

Elkman

Why do I keep getting eMails "New Clips Posted By userXY" ??

I never subscribed to any clips and I tried turning it off as well. Not really interested in some forum member posting FHM images like Saeed Eisa did.

Alex check this thread:-

This probably has been noted before but there is no "Padded Cell" option on the top menu navigation bar.

Personally I prefer the old style format. Not a tone control in sight.

Just had a look, not bad, seems to be a free forum software tailored on vBulletin. Not really rocket science, except for this tiny start up on the West coast that just doesn't seem to get it's act together.

Quote AllenB: "It's laughable"

I'm finding it less and less so , it really is an EFFORT to use this pile.

NOTHING SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING.  no updates, no expected dates for (I'd call them improvements but)  implementation of BASIC  facilities.

This place is in decline and this will continue unless something  MAJOR  happens SOON!

Maybe I am the only one with this problem, butin Opera it seems the forum software does not understand new-line properly.

Eample:

"Enter" at end of line should start next line directly underneath

"Enter twice" should leave just one line in between.

As you can see, there is always an extra break in my posts.
Posted on: 27 February 2011 by GreenAlex
And if I were to edit my last post, every new-line would get an extra new-line even though I did not edit any breaks. So something is quite wrong

p.s.: instead of one email per thread I get one email per post.

i.e. if there are 5 new replies to a thread I will get 5 emails rather than just one. seems the system does not register if a user has followed the link in the email and just keeps sending emails.

Still too much wasted space, still too much scrolling, still awful colour shading, still makes me NOT want to post. Come on Naim, patience is wearing thin for many members. This is one of the least visually appealing  poorly designed websites i've seen in some time.

It might just be me (and probably is) but the font seems to have increased in size, albeit slightly, since I last posted here.

And quoting seems to work in Safari (for Mac) too now.

250 posts and you think you know it all then?

There is a vast amount of knowledge in the old forum, which is now inaccessible due to no search function.

I don't see NAIM being "knocked" may be pointed at for allowing  substandard  forum to carry it's name.

It's these moaners as you put it, that have built up this forum, and as I see they are more than upset at this effort.

Good enough is not a mantra real NAIM fans will use, NAIM is picked for it's excellence, that same excellence should be what the forum aims at too.

It strikes me is the main change in the new forum is the increase in trolls.

Perhaps they took the sensible and rational part of  your brain out?

I would name this bunch whingers; however due to the fact that thanks to Naim's website they can now change their names and avatars, I am unable to point my finger at these whining ####### 's with any certitude. uys. Stop moaning and complaining. This forum functions well enough for it's intended purpose: faster non-communication. Who cares about the colouring and spacing arrangements on here when all you are doing is sending inconsequential messages to yourselves.

Listen to me. Either shape up or ship out; leave this forum to those who appreciate it and stop knocking Naim and their many fans who post on here.

If on one fine day, when you're thinking to yourselves : "I wish I'd brought a better cartridge than this one.", or: "When is the best time to plant my barley?", you'll think back to how good this forum was for giving good advice; until you started moaning about it that is.

If on that day you also think to yourselves: "I wish I'd listened to Nobby now. O.K., so his posting style was a little demented, he spoke a whole lot of sense for someone with a partial lobotomy."
When that realisation comes, my friends, then wise old Nobby has reached his gaol.

By complaining about other people complaining, you've become a complainer.

I felt that the only relevant parts of the post needed to be tidied up a bit.

Give you 3 guesses.

Paul the posts you listed in your "page out of alignment" query in the Social Strata "support" forum all appear to display correctly in Firefox.

I seriously doubt that anybody here is going to embed strange characters in their posts. Why on earth would they do that?

It was yesterday. Can we all forget about it now please and find something else to discuss. The forum is fine.
No, it's not.

"And so spoil it for others".

And it's my opinion you're spoiling this thread for the rest of us.

It's a paradox.
Maybe it is. It's also a fact that you're doing the same thing that you complain about in others.
