I used to be a regular here, reading and contributing now I can't be bothered, way to much space taken, can't search etc etc. It looks like the fisher price of forums. Will check in now and then in the hope it's changed. I work in IT looking after a website taking over £?m a day, how this got passed as an "upgrade" I do not understand.  In the words of Catherine Tate's Gran "What a load of old .."

Nob,

Give it a rest.  It's a feedback thread.  The new forum is crap compared to what it replaced and the users are unsurprisingly not happy with it.  I don't remember you contributing much, and if these recent ejaculations are anything to go by maybe it's just as well.

How do you reply and quote a previous message in the iPhone app? Cheers Simon

Turbo, what content are you trying to view?

Everything about Uniti (both pro and cons) which I seriously am considering buying.
F.x. unable to read "uniti problem" in the HiFi Corner Forum.

Turbo, that's because the thread was sidelined for Tech Support assistance.  I believe that Apple had an issue with a firmware version on the Classic that could cause an issue.  Tech Support and checking it out.  I have heard elsewhere that Apple may have fixed the problem.

Seriously Richard, when is "Ignore user" going to be back in place?

Good idea Tom, but better still............. could Hoop.la introduce a new gizzmo feature called "splat the prat" with all the visuals and sound effects......

Cheers

Just spotted this on the Social Strata blog:

"Sometime tomorrow (March 3rd), we'll be rolling out a software update for both Hoop.la and LiveCloud.  Hoop.la is our service for online communities, while LiveCloud is our social network focused on personal journals.

This update focuses on improving the search features.  You'll notice a new search box on most pages now and rather than simply filtering a content list (which was the extent of the previous search), you'll be able to search across the entire site, including all content types (blogs, topics, photos, videos, and members).

For content like blog posts and topics, we'll display extracts in the results, as well as highlight matched keywords in the extracts.

There is also a new Advanced Search option that allows you to refine your search based on specific criteria.  For instance, you can limit results to just a specific blog collection or forum, limit results based on certain author or post date, etc.

In addition to the extensive search improvements, we've made the following changes:

1.  Most buttons have been improved.  They look more like buttons now.  You can no longer customize the form button CSS in a theme, but we've tried to make these new buttons generic enough that they will look good regardless of your theme.

2. For Hoop.la, we've improved the landing page displayed when visiting a private Hoop.la community.  Before, visitors would simply be queried to register.  Now, they will see the actual name of the community, as well as its description, with a note that it is PRIVATE, requiring sign in or registration.  A much nicer experience overall.

3.  We've changed the wording for gender to be male/female rather than man/woman.

4.  We fixed a pretty major video bug that just surfaced this week.

5.  We fixed a number of other small bugs."

Buttons will look more like buttons. Yesss.

Looks like quite a few changes. Stand by for another half dozen releases to fix all the new bugs introduced in this new version.
Posted on: 03 March 2011 by ewemon
What only 6 releases? You are being kind. They still haven't fixed anything for me in Opera.

Obviously us Opera guys ain't a priority but at least if it works for the rest of you crowd I would be happy.

Just tried the search for the first time. Like the way it puts the posting dates for the results vertically down the right hand side - i.e. one character under another - keeps the results page so much more compact and easy to read.

Plus 1 on the new search
A further improvement would be to have the results posted in date order,  youngest at the top

Search working here in Win7 + Opera. Fast results too!

Mike - advanced has 'order by date' and other filters.

The search results will improve over the next few days as well.  Supposedly it takes a little while for the search-bot to collate all the info from the many posts over the forum's history.

The new search feature is an absolute disaster !!!!!!!!!!!!

Just to give it a try, I typed in "Brain Teaser" to see if it could find the thread I started just before Xmas.

Sure enough, first "find" was the "Brain Teasers for Xmas" thread - brilliant !! 10 out of 10 !

Then.....disaster.....

The second "find" was my Brain Teaser No 1 thread, started a few years ago..........16 Nov 2001 to be precise!!! Crickey !! where did the last 10 years go ??

Its going to take some time to recover from this shock - absolute disaster !

Cheers

I seem to be able to reply on the iPad now (by which I mean *today* - tomorrow may be different) but the wysiwyg stuff is gone.

Yippie ki-yay!

There's a search function.

This forum is getting better.

Right, I'm going to start thread-pruning.  Please keep this thread to the point, otherwise it doesn't help anyone.

keeping to the point, is there ever going to be a list (as I seem to think was actually ageed to) of all the good suggestions for improvement and a clear statement as to which suggestions Hoopla are planning to implement with an indication of timescales.

Cheers

Just wanted to say now that the search function is working that the new site is really coming along and I am enjoying it quite a bit. Thanks for all the hard work Naim. Now I can search and ask questions and maybe someday I'll even have some Naim equipment. Looking forward to hearing the Qute, Uniti and SN soon.

Cheers,

Scott

Don, I'll check with HQ next week.  I know they have been collating a list of "wants".  I have been busy trying to sort out the admin side of the forum.

As for Hoop-La's plans and timescales, that would be nice....
