Peter we have increased the font size, can you increase your view size on your screen?
Posted on: 11 February 2011 by Peter_RN

Why is the posting window appearing with top bar behind the text? This makes it difficult to reposition the window to be able to read the post behind it. Also, the button that rolled the window up has been removed; come on guys this is crazy!

Frank.......Yes same problem as you with IE8 not posting on fist click on 'Submit Reply' button, just the eternal rotating wheels.

Thanks Frank issue reported.

Richard

Can't reply in Opera (on W7) now when I click Post Reply - nothing happens, but I did this post using Reply with Quote and stripped out all the text in the Quote!

Hello Mr Stephenson

No, this does not work for me in IE8, Windows XP. You did remind me on the previous thread about zooming the page, which does work but is quite a pain as every page or tab has to be zoomed separately. I do tend to open a lot of tabs. This has never been a problem/necessary on any other site I visit.

I guess I will just continue to have the screen much closer than usual when on this site.

Regards

Peter

I have "Don't Show my Birthday" ticked on the PC.

When I view my profile on the iPhone my birthday appears.

Is this restricted to viewing one's own Profile from the app?

Or not?
Posted on: 11 February 2011 by Richard Dane
Doesn't look like it.  I see day and month but no year.  This is only shown via the app.  On the web i/f it's completely hidden.

A trifle odd - if you look at Forum Rules you can see "Do we all now get signatures - or is it just Frank?" at the bottom of my (edited) post.

And yet - not here. Most queer.

I believe that the way signatures now work is that they appear if you originate a thread and only on your first post.  Anyway, I've just written a little test signature and so I'll see whether it appears here...
Posted on: 11 February 2011 by Richard Dane
No, it doesn't.  I'll see what happens when I begin a thread.

OK, it works fine when you initiate a thread.

Hi Richard, sorry I have highjacked your post but when I click the Post Reply button in Opera it doesn't work. I have to quote the previous message to get on to the thread

Now noticed that when I click Post Reply in the Hi Fi thread I get an "You do not have permission to post in this thread".

Does this issue only happen for you in IE8?  Can you try another browser to see if it is specific to IE8?

I've been testing in IE8 and have not been able to reproduce this issue at all.  Do you have a specific post where the issue is prominent so I can try to reproduce it there (in case it's an issue specific to your site or the specific post)?

Any chance to have a search function including the previous forum or is it lost for ever?
Some of the old topics (threads) were so informative for the current products.

Posted on: 11 February 2011 by Gerard
What happened to all the previous posts from months/years ago? I can't access them especially via the "refine search" method.
Posted on: 11 February 2011 by Richard Dane
Gerard, Refine/Search is not a proper search function it seems.  It's not ready yet but should be coming in a few weeks time with the next update.  All the old posts are still there, we're assured, but it means wading back manually, which is not much fun.

I bet Hosni Mubarak is glad he doesn't run a forum as well ! Far too stressful .
Posted on: 11 February 2011 by JonR
Still don't understand the haste to introduce a new forum that not only doesn't have a search function, but we are now being told won't be coming for at least three or four weeks. Bizarre

Mr stephenson........sorry to butt in but I have the same problem that Frank reported as mentioned above at the bottom of one of my posts.

For me this has occurred on about half the post I have attempted.

I do not have another browser to try; there isn't another one I would use.

Hope this helps.

Ok, so now there is a second page up, it seem it is not possible to quote using’ multi-quote’ from more than one page. Selecting a quote on page one does not survive the change to page two. Surely that can’t be right can it?

It is really nice to have a quote function working in IE, but disappointing if this is as good as it will get. Can’t help thinking that if the posting window was independent of the page things would just work better.

This thread amazes me. It is like the blind leading the blind. How on earth Naim approved this amateurish shambles to be launched is beyond me. Still no word from hoopla on what has changed either. Whilst this mess remains my time will be spent on more productive activities . A real shame that this forum has fallen so far.
Posted on: 11 February 2011 by Jan-Erik Nordoen
Richard,

Naim must have had some compelling reasons to move to this new forum. I've not seen them stated clearly in the first installment of this thread. Could you summarize ? It would help...

Many thanks

Jan
