Why has "Streaming Audio" been added to the top of the forum list? Did anybody ask for this? Did anybody want it? Aren't there several more useful things that could have been done?
I'd prefer Music Room was back at the top and Streaming Audio went to the bottom. Just another irritation we could do without.

And as for the assetion that "the code itself may not be re-usable or readily maintained" I'm appalled! Code that cannot be maintained should never ever find its way into a 'product' (I use the term very loosely regarding this forum) - this shows a complete lack of understanding of even the most basic IT development principles. It is no wonder this forum is struggling.
would you expect all this for $199 tops a month though? Surely the social framework, product, hosting service whatever you want to call it is what it is at that price.Posted on: 18 February 2011 by Simon Jones
These commercial forums have obviously been overtaken by their open source rivals. PHPBB is lightyears ahead of this, as are things like Buddypress
As an aside, I was surprised to discover that this forum has it's origins in UBB which was ok in its time. So it's not like Social Strata don't have some sort've track record, but Hoop.la is hopeless.
It's hard to believe that Naim would have done worse rebooting the forum using PHPBB, keeping the old Eve forum as a searchable archive.
For anyone desperate for search in the short-term, whilst the boffins at Hoop.la get their act in gear, couldn't Naim just bodge together Google Custom search on a page on the Naim site? It's very easy to do. Alternatively members of the forum can just type eg 'site:forums.naimaudio.com uniti' into Google to find all mentions of 'uniti' on the forums.

Tomk I think you are really not looking, music room has not moved, distributed audio HAS always been at the top, its just renamed to a more fitting "streaming audio". HT has been added at the to bar also to make access easier. Irritation can't see how with this, sorry!

Re: JeremyB's comment $199/ month is quite a lot for some thing like this. Hosting for the forum could be had for 1/4 of that (it could be had a LOT cheaper than that, but for a half decent hosting arrangement £30/month seems about right). I'm really uncertain what value there is in paying a poorly performing supplier on an ongoing basis for an inferior product, when Naim clearly have a competent site designer/developer for the rest of their site, who could easily support a better, more established web forum platform.

It would be neat if......
the sequence of "rooms" was consistent across the top of the Forum, across the bottom of the Forum and in the "drop-down" menu.
At present mot every "room" is listed across the top or the bottom and the sequence (and names) varies between the three lists.
Cheers

ok Tomk Sorry see what you mean, its me not looking early morning! you mean not the top bar but the forum list page, easily changed
Don-agreed almost is now just "padded cell" missing from top bar will move soon, just a space issue

Thanks Paul. You had me thinking I was going off my head.
And as Don said it would be nice if the order was consistent. The drop down list of Forums is different from the Forum List and they're both different from the old forum order.
But it's minor stuff compared to the big issues.

Remove "Forums" from the top list (black bar) and replace it with "Padded Cell"?
Also FAQs is missing may be a good idea to have it showing all the time?
There is a forums button at the top of the gray section anyway.
A couple of "facilities" would go missing from that top forum, drop down.

Big, we cannot remove forums from the top banner as there are several other non visible forums whch need to be viewed with various permissions, thanks for the input though.

Would love it if the "featured topics" were on a separate page or at the bottom rather than the top. Maybe even smaller font so didn't take up so much front page real estate

A Positive comment - the "Recent Activity" facility is excellent for the way I use the forum and, for me, more than compensates for the restricted space for the main threads.
Is this a recent addition following the upgrade or was it always there?

IIRC before the "upgrade" to the forums, I could do a SEARCH for my own username and find out what postings I had made. Quite useful if you've been on holiday and want to check if anyone has replied to something posted just before you went away.
Why is SEARCH called REFINE LIST?
The REFINE LIST seems to be limited to whichever forum you are in. Sometimes I want to find relevant postings in ALL of the forums.
Posted on: 19 February 2011 by Don Atkinson
Hoop.la have screwed up on the search function. (and loads of other things as well)
They hope, (well, we hope) they will come up with something half decent at the next upgrade which we expect in a few weeks time.
Cheers

I'd like to repeat the comment about "Featured Topics" mentioned in an other thread, if they get any longer the actual thread posts will start on page 2.
Avatars don't help of course as they increase the minimum lines per post/subject, from 1 line to 5.
Another annoyance is the amount of empty space in some posts. I'm assuming the posters are not deliberately leaving huge gaps.
Is this an OS/platform thing?
It really becomes silly when those posts are then quoted whole by another poster with huge gaps in their posts. Posts/page count dwindles rapidly.

BigH, were you being ironic? Avatars don't help of course as they increase the minimum lines per post/subject, from 1 line to 5.

I hope that info that I have referenced is correct, as with 1000+ posts on the "new" forum feedback and limited search facility, I am going by memory. I believe the two members affected are Ewen and Dean. Jeff A

Yep I am badly affected by it.

As mentioned before, it happens as well at times while posting from my iPad, not always but every other time.

Haven't even checked the new forum until now because it is so distracting. I like the old one better. At least, the absence of profile images created a nice mystery. Well.. No point in complaining I guess.

Hoop.la have asked for comment (preferably constructive). So, if you consider some functionality needs to be added or modified, best to speak up!Cheers
