UnitiQute & Lacie Network Hard Drive disconnecting

Posted by: GcDrumma on 15 January 2014

I've had a UnitiQute combined with a Lacie Network HardDrive for streaming my music. This post ain't a rant against UnitiQute or Naim. I like the sound & it does more then i hoped for.

My problem comes from that hard drive. It keeps disconnecting & going into sleep mode constantly even if i disabled this function on the hard drive. When this happens, of course, the Unitiqute can't read-it. I try to wake-up the hard drive with my computer & it works randomly. Talked to Lacie tech support & honestly, no help whatsoever.

To other people using a hard disk to stream their music, what is your typical setup (what hard disk do you use that is, of course, more reliable then this piece of sh..). Naim has it's own server? Worth while looking into? Sure it's more expensive then my setup, but at this point, my Unitiqute is almost useless unless i change my drive.

Thank's in advance,

I have a Synology NAS drive which works just fine. It takes about 2-3 seconds to wake from sleep every time I connect to it with my unitiQute.
I would stick to the most common NAS drives for streaming... Synology, Qnap, ReadyNas should work just fine.

Thank's a million. I'll look into these NAS drives. As for Lacie that states that their drive's are NAS compatible...they are when it's awake
