Transcoding Flac to Wav

Anyone know whether my (new) Synology 213J NAS can transcode from Flac to Wav on the fly? And if so, does it make the sound better?

My Twonky LiveBook died one month after the warranty finished :-( Luckily all backed up.

Hi Alex

Yes the Synology in built "Media Server" app will transcode flac to wav, however it can struggle at anything above standard CD resolution.

If you install something like "Minimserver", this works perfectly. I use this on my 212j and i much prefer the sound of transcoding to wav on my NDX.

Thanks Graeme!

I spent my evening getting Minimserver - and associated packages - working. Fiddly but it all worked. So now it's transcoding beautifully to WAV. Sounds a fraction cleaner than FLAC even on the Qute,

I recommend it!
