Why won't it play them? Whats your UPNP server, has this server finished or started indexing the tracks, whats your router.

etc etc etc.

usually iTunes asks if you want to convert a track to ALAC, is that not the case?

Do you use Amarra or Audirvana with iTunes?

is the file on a NAS or on you computer?

All of these questions including the ones from Gary are important.

Numpty.  Have you tried downloading it again. Once downloaded you can usually do it again for free

Hi sorry thku for coming back .. i use my IMAC as my server ( so basically my itunes library )  and Yasoft as the software its ethernet connected using tp link powerlines .. My router is a basic SKY plastic box of tricks  a majority of my library is cd ripped albeit this was done a long time ago  ...

I just cant get my head round (a) why will some tracks not play off the same album albeit ripped or purchased through itunes ( unprotected aac,s  )  (B)  If i go to my itunes library and click on a track that wont play ( CANT PLAY SLIT THROAT )  and create an AAC file again  of the same song it will play  but then itunes replicates the song again in my library ...

its just crazy  ... i have spent more time messing about than listening to music  ... ( now where did i put my record player )

Are they the same tracks that wont play ?.

Playback will just use your iTunes library file to provide its library information. One thing you may want to try is making sure the Playback version you have is compatible with the iTunes version. They did have an incompatibility for a while when Apple did one of its iTunes updates.

One more thing - i see you are using powerline adapters. Have you tried a cabled link to the router to rule out any network issues ?

Yes madness .. lets say track for arguments sake ...  dark side of the moon  .. CANT PLAY skipped track ......  AAC file non protected .. walk around to where my mac is ... click on  (get info ).. create AAC file again .. so now have the same track twice and bingo it plays  ..... when you say cable i guess you mean router straight into UL .. i havent but thats gonna be difficult with placement issues etc  ..

I just think my UL has a mind of its own if it doesnt like the particular song it just wont play it ...  Its like KITT out of Knightrider  ,,,

Given the choices on the original post, I'd have to opt for the latter. The former seems a bit draconian, diva-dramatic, and potentially fatal.

Dap1 - the Yazsoft forum is a good place to go and ask your question. The developers respond quickly and can get you to send them a diagnostics file which should help you pinpoint the problem.

I used Playback for a couple of years with no problems so i'm sure it's a simple fix. I will check how i had Playback set when i get home tonight as you need to make sure a couple of tickboxes are set correctly - this may be the cause of your random playback (ignoring protected content)

Yeh i think i have spent too much time now walking around the house with my ipad in hand going to and from my imac and sitting infront of my Uniti  getting info / re booting / typing in router passwords / going wired / wireless ... I,ll go through all your appreciated suggestions  then probably give the Jedi masters a call if i cant work it out  ... It,s consumed me to the point where my eyes are spinning like the snake in Jungle Book

Try the Asset UPnP for Mac beta--Playback has been deprecated and will not see regular updates; Asset, on the other hand, works very well for the high-performance, no-fuss streaming we expect.

Thankyou so much chaps .... Followed those screen shots to a tee removed  and reinstalled playback

am now tentatively going through my library playing the songs that wouldn't play yesterday ... 4 songs in no hiccups yet ........... YET ....

Come Sunday my day of music I,ll,probably be back on here ... But hopefully one day I,ll be able to be a helper rather than a helpee
