Two things, hope someone can help and advise?
System Uniti, NAP 250 and now, a Unitiserve.
Firstly audio quality - I am new to Unitiserve and undecided whether to stream via my router (with good quality cat 7 cables) or to use the digital output from the Unitiserve into the Uniti and forego the convenience of the volume control on my Uniti (I can use the remote with no issues.
Secondly, and it's a trivial issue but I notice that when I browse the folder structure of the Unitiserve it shows me a selection of folders EX, HQ, LQ, MQ - I assume these represent the quality of the rip and are set by the Unitiserve itself - can anyone tell me please.
Lastly - my previous downloads; Do I just drop them into the Downloads folder with the artwork as cover.jpeg?
Many thanks in advance.

Hi Daunt,
I think that you should try both playback methods with the uServe to see if you prefer one over the other. I started off with the uServe directly connected to the Naim Dac, but later moved to using it as a true UPnP server to the NDS. No right or wrong answer. For me, on the home network, it enabled me to add a Qute for a second system, so that's a plus.
At present the uServe uses only some of those folders. MQ for its own rips (flac or wav; your choice), and LQ for the optional mp3 versions you might want it to create. Downloads for your online purchases, rips made elsewhere, etc.
Yes just drop folders into the Downloads folder. I suggest folder.jpg as the name of the cover art files.
Let us know how you make out!

Hi Guys,
I'm thinking of adding a Unitiserve HDD to my Uniti2.
Do you think it would be better to connect them together with a DC-1 BNC cable or via streaming? What are the differences in sound quality and functionality?
If streaming is the way ahead, do I just connect both the Unitiserve and the Uniti2 to the router?
I currently have the Uniti2 connected to the internet via the wireless aerial for internet radio etc.
Many thanks

If you add a Serve, connect them via an Ethernet switch, and connect the switch to the router. This should sound better than a direct connection. I asked the same question last year, and got some interesting answers. That thread might be worth seeking out.
