Superuniti won't play some albums

Posted by: Barry on 02 February 2014

I don't know if anybody can shed any light on this but for some reason my Superuniti has suddenly started not being able to play certain albums from the Unitiserve. So far as I can tell these all appear to be recently ripped CD's although it had been playing all of these perfectly well until yesterday. I can still play other albums but when I try to play these I simply get a message saying 'Can't play'. The albums are clearly displayed in the index. Help!

Have you tried giving your SuperUniti a power cycle?

Yes, that should fix it. I like the idea of stopping it playing some albums though - for some reason my wife likes James Blunt......

Thanks guys. I had thought of that but haven't tried it. I will certainly give it a go.

Which format are the albums?

I have the same problem with ALAC and AAC via LAN using N-Stream.

it works fine with the standard remote control.

The albums are all CD’s ripped on the Unitiserve in WAV. However I am now beginning to think that the problem is with the n-stream app on my iPad.

Try refreshing the cache if you think it might be nStream.  It's an option in the settings menu.

Fortunately, James Blunt is still the only album that my Vortexbox refuses to rip

Thanks for this but do you mean the refresh cache option in the Superuniti settings or the clear UpnP cache in the nstream settings? It definitely appears to be a problem with nstream connecting to the Superuniti.

I have now clearly established that the problem lies with the nstream app on my iPad as nstream on my iphone is working fine and I can play all my albums without any problem. I am about to go away on holiday so if there is still a problem when I get back I propose to remove nstream from my iPad and then reinstall it. The nstream app is clearly not the most robust or reliable.

Clear uPnP cache in nStream settings.

And if that doesn't work then your delete / re-install the app suggestion is a good thing to try.
