Hi all,
I am after some advice re backing up "my stuff"!
External hard drives etc are hard work and can be quite unreliable.
I note that various "Cloud" options to be available, Sky Drive etc. Whilst they appear to offer many options that I favour, they do appear to have a maximum upload size, in particular if you upload to Sky drive via web browser it's 300mb, and via there app 2Gb. What I'm not understanding is if I have a single file that it 5Gb, this would seem to make this option of back up redundant. Can any one advise or help?
I would like to explore options of back ups both at work and at home (all my music/photos etc).

Have a look at Crashplan.
We've been using them for a few years and have found it to be reliable. I have done test restores occasionally just to be sure. If you can locate a PC at another location you can use their software for free.
Alternatively you can pay them and backup to their servers.
We backup all our paid for music downloads and photos etc to them.

You should also look at Carbonite.
Check pricing for Amazon Web Services if you have *a lot* of data. I don't think its too expensive to get up to a few TB of data up. Its not automated, but isn't hard to set up a "bucket" online with their S3 service.

Gents,
Thank you for the great advice.
Certainly will investigate further. My "trusty" ol NAS is making a rather nasty "grinding" sound after coming back from a top holiday in Dubai.I suspect a failing drive. Not sure which one.
Ho hum...ruddy technology!!
