How brilliant is the new forum ? Poll

Posted by: Don Atkinson on 12 February 2011

Only just realised that the poll option has been re-introduced, so thought i'd give it a try....

Don't know how long this poll will survive, but suggest that if it does, it's capped at end of Feb then re-run after the next upgrade.

Having an even number of options prevents fence-sitting.

As a guide, I would suggest
80-100% happy, go for Absolutely brilliant
50-79%  happy, go for As good as...
20-49%  happy, go for Dissapointing
0-19%    happy, go for Dreadful

Cheers

Bloody nightmare to negotiate on an Android mobile. Half the buttons don't work

Dude, checking the Naim Forum via your mobile.....is that classed as being obsessive?

I'm disssapppppointed in the spell checker.

I still ask why anyone would won't to use a mobile to keep their life on, and there fore need to look at forums on mini screens(ignoring tablets)?
I'm now in a position where don't need to use a phone much when at work, I'm there for a little enough time so that forum visits can wait until I'm home. So I can that see everything on a big screen.
I've tried to use my mobile and on any forum the effort is just not worth the hassle, either micro writing you can't read or large enough to read and scrolling every other word.

Mobile phone ? Clue in the title.  Smart phone?   An oxymoron.

Don't have IPhone/Pad/Pod, and unlikely to unless it's a gift.

It is still no excuse for this implementation though. I am assuming that previous version of the forum actually worked on those various mobile devices, OS's and  browsers. So as a minimum so should this one and not weeks /months down the line.

iMac/Chrome, a spellchecker  somewhere in there works fine, No grammar or punctuation checks though.

BigH,  it should be formally classified as a medical & mental condition.
Its like an addiction,  no IT IS an addiction to some people
must text   must score an app   need to see who loves me on facebook,  must tweet.

How many people do the non afflicted know who cannot live, cannot actually get out of bed even without sms'ing surfing or just f-f-f-f fiddling around on a smart/pod/cell phone thing, iPing or Gooseberry every waking hour.

Seems to be working for me now.  As I would be embarrassed to recommend it to anyone else there's no prizes for guessing where my vote went!

And I see that the spell checker is another barrel of laughs..............  There must be some really wacky coding going on!

Well, the search function has now been added (according to Fredrik - i'm afraid to admit that I haven't found it yet so haven't been able to try it out)

So I imagine a few more votes will soon appear in the "brilliant" option.

If you use firefox, there's a "British English Dictionary" add on that spell checks as you type. As for the new forum, I can't remember what the old one was like. Can't see what all the fuss is about.

Forum seems to be designed on the re-inventing the wheel principle.

93 votes to date. A few more would'nt go amiss.

The distribution has been pretty consistent over the past week or so as the votes came in.

Hopefully, the distribution will change after the next upgrade by Hoop.la

96 votes so far - and the total percentage still only adds up to 98. Even Excel can do better than that!

It would be nice to see what happens to the percentage distribution when the actual number of votes is exactly 100.......

101 votes. Poll has been pretty consistent throughout, more or less as follows:-
15% consider the new forum is brilliant or good
85% consider it is disappoining or dreadful

2nd upgrade is due next week or thereabouts (unless things have gon from bad to worse)
Perhaps the upgrade will lead to a significant change in the poll distribution figures..........

Cheers
