Coming to Naim digital music players in May

Posted on: 18 February 2014 by 0rangutan

Presumably just after they finish adding the previously mentioned AirPlay support...

Posted on: 18 February 2014 by Gavin B

But not for those of us with older, non-hi-res versions of kit

Posted on: 18 February 2014 by simes_pep

I wonder what the available resolution will be?

The requirement for hi-res boards is unlikely to relate to the resolution of the music coming from Spotify, rather the suitability of the processor chipset on the board for adding this extra feature. The same requirement for hi-res boards was indicated when Paul Stephenson mentioned upcoming AirPlay support a few years back, despite AirPlay being only 16/48.

Shame it won't be available for the server products by the looks of it.

This was a pleasant surprise to log on to!

Indeed. It's a bit disappointing to see that my two and a half year old piece of equipment is already too old for this kind of software update. I am not a Spotify user at the moment so it's not too bad but it would have been nice to have that option.

Great news

I must say - this may just make me switch from using a Sonos.....I have been toying with the idea of an NDX for quite a while!

Qubuz would be an even better bonus!

Is there any older kit that can't be upgraded to the newer hi-res boards?  The Qute certainly can and I would be surprised if the original Uniti couldn't too.

Wow, it has been nearly two years (or more) that naim first popped the ideal of air play becoming a reality. Here we are and nothing about airplay but spotify. Not complaining though as I would much prefer a platform neutral service than a protocol belonging to a captive market! Thanks Naim!

Very good news. Quite disturbing though that the announcement has already been removed from the website :-? (I can“t seem to find it any more).

Every Uniti product can be fitted with the current streaming board, which also provides better FLAC decoding (faster processor), IMHO narrowing the perceived gap between FLAC and (transcoded to) WAV playback.

That's curious.

The announcement sticky has also disappeared from the Forum as well as the Naim website.

Gremilns at work?
