Router recommendation for Uniti with QNAP NAS
Posted by: Ptangyang on 23 February 2014
Hello
Its recently been pointed out that my problems with my Uniti regularly dropping off and becoming undiscoverable using the iPhone app could be down to my sky router - can anyone recommend a reliable alternative please?
Thanks
Hi, I have a Uniti 2, since a year, and an iPod with the Naim-App. But if the App is up-to-date, this should not be a Problem.
Perhaps I have not quite got your problem, but perhaps this helps:
My problem was also the router which is on the first floor, Linksys n-Standard. My Computer is in the groundfloor, same with my Naim. Both had been with W-Lan connected. Streaming sometimes did, sometimes not. The Signal had to go through the ceiling made of concrete upstairs to the router, then the same down to the Naim Unity; I was not sure with a solution Powerline because some of the People said, there could be a noise from the Powerline gear. So I bought a devolo 500 bit/sec. version, tried it, and what surprise, no noise, and because I have now only one way air, and one way over cable, Streaming does work now without any interruption.
Billion 7800N - rock steady in my setup for the past 2 years and highly recommended as dual wan router.
I use Apple Time Capsule (in router mode). It is very fast and reliable. My Uniti is wired to the Time Capsule by a short ethernet patch.
I even store my active iTunes Music folder on it successfuly, despite rcommendations not to do so, but this is another subject ...

Has anyone any experience using Sky Hub? Seems to get positive comments elsewhere and seems a reasonably priced solution if it works

I also have a Sky Hub, I fixed the IP addresses. Since then, it's been rock solid! It's very easy to do that.

Does this problem manifest itself on any other hardware?
