Problems with laptop sound

Posted by: Gavin B on 07 March 2014

Hi Folks

I've got problems with the sound coming out of my three year old Dell laptop.

Either playing through a USB DAC connected to a Denon mini system, or through the headphone socket, the music sort of skips repeatedly, probably every 20 or 30 seconds.  It happens playing songs in iTunes and playing Radio Paradise from their website.

Is there anything I can check or look at to try to sort it out?

Is it just a poor, cheap laptop with no hope of getting fixed?

Thanks

Gavin

If possible, a hardware check would be my first step (I.e. Is the hard disk, RAM and all items on the motherboard working OK?) .  It may be possible to do this with the install disks or some other software (unfortunately, I don't have much experience with Windows to be more specific).

Also, if you haven't done so already, I would close also programs that are not necessary for music playback?
