Led Zeppelin Reissue News
Posted by: Steve C on 11 March 2014
Box sets, double vinyl, triple vinyl, deluxe CDs and more. Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin II and Led Zeppelin III reissued on 2 June 2014.
Anyone else looking forward to these with trepidation knowing Page was involved with the remastering.
I'm a bit disappointed there's no cassette version.
Or RTR.
Prices are cheaper than Amazon on What Records with single LPs only £12.99.

The super deluxes are cheaper there as well - by £3! I suspect prices will go down before June.
With Steve on this one the box looks expensive & difficult to store! So have just pre ordered Zep One in the hope that the price goes down before June
Graham.
+1
Only order one until I'm sure of the SQ.
The super deluxe boxes are expensive (then again you're getting all the music on hi-res, vinyl and CD), but they're comparably priced with the Floyd Immersions - which didn't even contain vinyl! Those marbles and scarves were incredibly expensive!
So these are the same as the Immersions, the HiRes copies only come with the deluxe box sets, similar to The Who Quadrophenia HiRes DVD also (which I bought the deluxe box set to get, yikes)?
Hey ho more expensive HiRes copies, but great they are coming out looking forward to these.
Is anyone aware of the HiRes copies coming out as standalone purchases? Checking online now also.

Dan, they will be available via iTunes on 2 June, no idea at what res, but I'm sure they'll come out on hi-res somewhere at some point...
I luckily looked for it on Amazon earlier this afternoon. I've ordered the Deluxe vinyl of the three albums which are excellent VFM. The Super Deluxe box sets, even at pre-order price seem expensive for what they are. It will work out about £40-£50 pounds for the 'book' and poster along with the box. It's the music I want.
I can't see them being too much of a collectors item as they are obviously releasing in excess of 30,000 as evidenced by the blurb saying the first 30,000 posters will be numbered. The Classic Records LPs go for a lot because the numbers were relatively limited and they are excellent SQ.
Exciting times though with the new material and I love the new album artwork.
Please, please let's hope JP has got a new hearing aid.
Thanks for the tip off Steve just ordered them too - any idea when the others will be available to put in the diary to pre-order?
Pete
Pete, I believe LZ4 will be released in time for Xmas. HOTH may come out with it; LZ4 is rumoured to be coming with TWO CDs' worth of extras.
PG will come out on its own in 2015 as apparently it will be another multi-disc effort, perhaps with as many as five CDs, from what I hear.
Presence, ITTOD and Coda follow in Summer or Autumn 2015 I believe.
What about TSRTS? Perhaps Page thought he did a good enough job with the last remaster.

TSRTS is not part of this Steve. That's all done now.The problem with the 2007 TSRTS is that for legal reasons they had to use the film soundtrack, not the original album tapes - hence the inferior versions of WLL and NQ. (The Garden Tapes website explains all).
Best get a first UK press, a Classic or a1970s Jap.
Thanks Kevin. I have a reasonable 1st press thankfully.
Just pre ordered vinyl copies of all 3 mainly for the extra stuff. Box sets are too expensive IMO although they look lovely.
I'll not bother after Mothershit, I'll wait and hear how they are. Just another chance to rip off the punters methinks.
Methinks the same Howard. And that goes to reissues in general. Money spinning machine. I'm quite content with my originals whenever possible. But each to their own!

How so?
All last night sat on the levee and go....

What about those interested in the new/unreleased material?
What about those who are too young to have owned LZ on vinyl - most of the LPs haven't been available new for about 15 years - and want to own them?
What about those who can't afford, or find, the original pessings, or Diament or SHM CDs or the Classic LPs?
Are they being milked?
There is a place for reissues, and these seem to be quite well done, with something for everyone. At least there a range of price points and permutations, depending on your level of interest/fanaticism. The prices, the superdeluxes aside, are very reasonable.

Kevin,
I refer to people who own original pressings and go and buy every new relase of the same original album. I just do not get it! I do buy a reissue once in a blue moon, when my original pressings are showing signs of giving up the ghosts.
I did see you have around 300 LZ boots and that's different because they are mostly live performances and someone who really loves the band.
I tend not to buy music that I own on vinyl on CD. It also works the other way round. If I have the CD, I there's very little chance of me buying the vinyl.
A records company is a business like any other and some bands releases are just repackaged stuff in order to generate more and more profit of already saturated materials.
I'm not here to tell people what to listen to or how to spend their money.
But, people are entilted to have a different opinion, Kev.
Tony
Just ordered II and III single gatefold versions from What, as I 've never owned them. AT £12.99 each they're a bargain! Keeping my original IV!

In general I agree with you Tony, as I mentioned above, but the price of the deluxe LP packages are worth it for the extra material. I wouldn't normally buy for this reason, I usually find 'extra' tracks are disappointing, but I am interested with Led Zep.

It's going to come down to sound quality for me. To date LZ have been poorly served. I'm sure the HiRes will be available separately in due course and by then the sound quality should be well documented. I really hope they've nailed it this time.
Well I for one am looking forward to them. Discovered them in my teens in the early 80s and still frequently listened to.
Just wish they were offering the hi res download with the vinyl.
I suspect Pagey needs the money - I guess the Mill House will cost him a few bob after the floods. Clewer Village suffered badly.
Still, somehow I suspect I'll end up paying for some of his re-plastering

Poorly served? The Atlantic Diament version are stellar. No need for anything else as far as I am concerned. Unless the 24/96 are great...

Whilst I have the Classic Records releases and some over played and partied originals I am interested in the additional material:
"The material on the companion discs presents a portal to the time of the recording of Led Zeppelin,” says Page. “It is a selection of work in progress with rough mixes, backing tracks, alternate versions, and new material recorded at the time”
I just hope the SQ is up to it, I have my doubts.
