Unitiserve 1TB vs 2TB

Posted by: Zeny on 23 March 2014

Hi everyone

I'm considering an ex-demo Unitiserve 1TB and I wonder if it is worth it to buy the 1TB version at a good price instead of the 2TB version at the normal price? Other than the inability to save music downloads into the HDD of the 1TB Unitiserve, are there any other differences I should be aware of? I already have a NAS so the smaller HDD size is not an issue.

Thanks!

Since you already own a NAS, disk space will not be an issue. The only difference between these two might be the option of storing your own downloaded files onto the 2TB unit.

Make sure you update to the latest software version though...

Michel

Another question, say a few years down the line the US breaks down, can the rips be copied and played with a mac software player like Audirvana?

You would want to back up your naim library onto an external drive no matter what.

That said.

GO with the 1TB version and store ALL the rips on a NAS drive and a second back up.

3TB external drives are cheap and provide the insurance of not losing all of your rips...
