New naim user struggling with setup

Posted by: Mike Woodcock on 24 March 2014

Hi all, I've just purchased a naim UnitiQute2 and NAP-100. After a few hours of setting up, the UnitiQute2 connected fine to my WD MyCloud NAS and I was able to enjoy playing newly ripped tracks in Apple Lossless format.

However, when I downloaded the n-stream app, it wasn't able to find my NAS? The UnitiQute2 connected to it fine wirelessly, so I believe all the setting are right. Help please!

many thanks

Its over a week now since my initial setup problems, and I just wanted to say thank you to all who helped me to get to grips with this "new fangled music" - At time of writing I am sat listening to some of my favourite tunes, marvelling at new levels of detail and clarity and feeling very satisfied with my new system.

To complete the setup - I partnered the UQ and NAP-100 with Dali Menuet speakers because they came in white apparently this is of primary importance over sound....

Anyway, thank you all once again

Hmmm

I guess I need to reset the UQ somehow?

Perhaps deleting the cache in the N-Stream app will sort that.

Hi - This is unlikely to help as it seems to be an issue with WDs UPnP server ... we've had it reported several times and usually forcing a rescan in the UPnP server fixes it.

Cheers

Just reading through your problem. Could be that 'wireless isolation' is enabled. This particular feature stops clients on the same wireless network from seeing each other.

Just throwing it out there.

You have the same set up as me and I see duplicate track entries for some allbums. However some of the albums affected by this problem show duplicate entries for some tracks but not for others. My NAS is a WD MyCloud 4TB, connected by cable to my BT Home Hub 5. Unitiqute 2 is also connect by cable to the Home Hub.

Any ideas anyone?

Does you NAS run a Java Virtual machine?  If it does, or if you can install it then run Minim Server.

I had a similar connection problem with my UnitiLite but I had set the thing up myself to use a fixed ip address - don't ask I know it was stupid.  What I didn't realise was that it didn't look for the Gateway and wouldn't display time, play internet radio and all sorts of stuff because the gateway was blanked.  I mention this as a warning to anyone else who wants to go manual the gateway ip is not showing, you have to scroll down to see it (or lack of it).

I found that when you play with the internet settings you have to come out of setup and let it restart the network before changing anything on n-Stream.  So I set ip address to auto, left setup and then changed the connection type to auto on n-Stream and it worked.  Impatience ain't a great thing.

Another problem I still get is with that infernal iPad, it keeps (once a week) losing its connection to my wireless hub.  It still shows it's connected with that little icon at top left but if I ping anything from the really useful app Fing, then the only thing that it can ping successfully is itself.  I then have to reboot the hub, easy enough to do but it means getting out of your chair!

I hate Apple, overpriced and overrated.
