Qute2 keeps dropping network connection

Posted by: JSH on 25 March 2014

My Qute 2 has started dropping the network connection recently.  Everything else on the network is fine so it doesn't seem to be a router issue (BTHH5 running BT Infinity).  Running wirelessly

Qute shows "No network".  Using iRadio seems to restart it after about half a minute most times but not all.  When it doesn't a switch on / switch off reboot does it, but that's hardly ideal

Is there a setting somewhere I need to change? Or should I reboot and leave off for a long time (how long?)  Would a "better" aerial help, and what would a better aerial be?

PS Suggestions such as buy a new router will be ignored.  Wired connection is not feasible here other than through the mains - would that be better?

JSH - if you want Naim to look at it I suggest you send them an email. I don't think they always spot stuff being discussed on the forum.

Good point.  Is there someone you can recommend or will a note to "support" do the trick?

All,

I dropped out myself for a bit; work just a bit demanding.

I'm still getting the connection problems, but I am having difficulty with iRadio; just the other day it started, then stopped after about 30 seconds. I switched to UPnP with iPhone, which worked, and when I came back to iRadio, there was nothing. I get 'the streamer is not responding' message. When I 'try again' or 'setup' the setup panel on n-stream comes back with 'no streamer found'. If I use the remote I sometimes get it to work. If I turn the UQ off and then on again, usually iRadio comes back. But the n-stream app often says 'no streamer found'. Not 'server', but 'streamer'.

If I use the remote, things often come back on line, but not always; I get 'network initializing' or 'network starting' messages that never go away.

It's as if the app can't see the UQ, which would not be affected by the router, just to keep that sub-topic going.

Sorry I'm not contributing solutions, but I figure I'm part of the party anyway.

Have you tried the switch it to analogue "solution"?

A kludge bit it's still working for me at the moment.  ( Actually, I quite like the "off" button )

JSH,

I have probably only selected 'analogue' three or four times in two years. Never tried it before letting the UQ sleep.

We've had a week or so of reliable play, and I'm not complaining.

But to others using n-stream on an idevice; in the settings menu, do you see the UQ as the the streamer? We rarely do on either the iPhone 4S or iPad 2. So it is working, even though the controller, n-stream, apparently can't find the device that makes all the noise.

Glad the Analogue/off system seems to be working.

On n-Stream, I usually see the UQ in the setup menu, but sometimes I have to change input on the RC to get it to find itself in n-Stream again.  But I'm not a great Apple fan ( sorry, take me out and burn me with the witches for such heresy) and I find the Namote/ UpnPlay combination on my Samsung more reliable.  So I've turned the n-Stream off and generally don't bother with it.

Now if Naim could get off their backsides and give us an Android controller......Is that a pig flying I see?
