BubbleUpnp is missing my HDX as a renderer

Posted by: Yvan on 28 March 2014

Hello everyone,

I'm struggeling since days (nights ;-)) with BubbleUpnp on my android phone and network at home. BubbleUpnp is installed on my windows 7 computer now for the installation failed to work direcly on my Qnap NAS server. But eventhough I can access the config pannel of the BubbleUpnp server, it doesn't show any sign of my Naim HDX player. In fact the HDX is showing up in the libraries list, but not in the renderer list.

Can anyone help me with this ?  What could I be missing in my config ?  I'm just lost now, and didn't find any idea anymore of places to search...

Thanks in advance !

Within UPNP there are three elements:

Server (HDX)

Control Point (Ipad)

Renderer (Uniti)

A HDX is not a renderer, hence why it is not showing up. Its a server.

The HDX handles music in a different way but will still do what you want. On your QNAP make sure the music share is accessible by all with no password and that its SMB

This will then show automatically on the HDX as a share.

If your frustrations surround the fact that nserve is not available for android. Spend 70 quid and get a second hand ipod. Or hook the HDX up to a tv and use the remote.

Shooo...  to bad...  I'm not really happy with the idea of having one more device in the house, just to command the HDX. But I understand I won't have other means...

Thanks for this answer garyi !

You can use an existing PC or mac, and of course its got a lovely front screen and video output for TV. All in all the hdx has a number of ways to control it, apart from an android app.

True, but unfortunately all these different ways aren't in my pocket most of the time like my Android smartphone is ;-)
