CDDB Incorrect Album Info - How to Correct?

Posted by: deepinsight on 29 March 2014

I've got a double CD "ABBA - The Singles - The first 10 years" Polydor 810 050-2.

When I rip this using my UnitiServe the first disc ( Disc1) rips fine with the correct information.

When I rip the second disk it retrieves from CDDB the information for the 1st disc and uses that, so the ripped tracks are from the second CD but the titles/data etc are for the tracks on the 1st CD.

I've tried ripping the 2nd cd first, and doing a CDDB lookup on that in the hope that'll retrieve the correct info for the 2nd cd, but it just states that the information retrieved during the rip ( that for the 1st cd) cannot be improved.

Any ideas on how to get the correct information for both discs?

The AMGReport.log in the album's folder states:

# AMG report log generated by CDLookupWrapperV2 on 29 March 2014 08:14

# TOC Info read from CD in Drive F
# http://dmr.allmusic.com contacted on first attempt.
# 2 albums found from http://dmr.allmusic.com:
1. The Singles: The First Ten Years (R 45) - ABBA (P 3492). Tracks:13, Confidence:10, Image:No, Classical Data:No, Discs:1.
2. The First Ten Years Disk Two (R200065221) - ABBA (P200000200). Tracks:10, Confidence:7, Image:No, Classical Data:No, Discs:1.

# Determining which albums to ignore:
All matches are being considered for selection.

# 2 albums remain for prioritising:
#
# Priority given to 1. The Singles: The First Ten Years (R 45), as it was the 1st English album in the remaining list.
# Priority ignored for 2. The First Ten Years Disk Two (R200065221), as Classical/Image/Confidence data was not considered an improvement.
#
# Best match found: 1. The Singles: The First Ten Years (R 45) - ABBA (P 3492).

It's the 2nd one, which was ignored which has the correct info for that cd.

I can download a cddbinfo.txt file from FreeDB which as the correct track info and edit the cddbinfo.txt file in the album's directory, but this doesn't seem to be picked up. Also the amginfo.xml still refers to the 1st cd.

I've also tried ripping to FLAC - same info result.

I've tried forcing a FreeDB local lookup by disconnecting from t'internet. That retrieves the correct track info and identifies the CD correctly as ABBA - The Singles - The First Ten Years (CD 2).

The easiest and perhaps only solution is to do a manual edit of the data using the desktop client or n-Serve for OS X, depending on whether you're a Windows or OS X user.

Just edit the album title in Nserve it should sort it's self out.

Yes, I find nServe far easier to use for editing than the DTC.
