A fascinating documentary of the Viking Sword.

Here's rock's premier Viking, Percy, with one of his two swords (the other one being in his trousers. Apparently).
I think I'd rather look at a real steel Viking sword, than some rocker's budgie!

Disruptive lot. They spoiled the Spam sketch.
John.
"Bloody Vikings" Spam Spam Spam , Surgical Spam! etc etc.
Good documentary. Thanks George.
Great documentary but nothing on Tyrfing the great sword of my adoptive father. And they wonder whence the Vikings received their mystical metallurgical mastery...
The Vikings were traders like the British 1000 years later.
I don't think that anyone thinks the Vikings invented "steel" but they surely imported the idea, the ingredients, and the method. However, they knew how to deploy and use the technology, and were tough, so could do so with the strength that still today has toughened the culture of Britain and Europe.
