The Division Bell to be re-released on double vinyl?
Posted by: Tarquin Maynard - Portly on 31 March 2014
Not seen it mentioned here but this sounds like a decent rumour.
I might be interested.
Been waiting for confirmation, as every other format has been re done for the 20th anniversary, even a set of stamps in a 7" record sleeve.
One that I would like to have..
Ordered, of course.
Also, the CD set.
I quite like Pink Floyd. :-)
Due to be delivered today, both the double vinyl and the all-singing CD stuff.
I AM SO EXCITED
So long as it makes you happy!
Have you got anything yet?
My order for the box set inc t shirt says 'closed' !
Not seen yet - Mr. Amazon tells me its "out for delivery".
I can't remember the website I ordered it from - was just too excited!
Mine arrived from Amazon this morning, but I haven't had a chance to play it yet. I did notice that one of the trees in the background (on the left) is missing from the front cover.
Nowt from PF.COM here yet, but have had stuff from Warner before with no hassle, so we will see. Was in the first 500 to order so a bunch of stuff to arrive apparently :-)
Mine (the super deluxe box - I'm a bit of a sucker for those things) came this morning.
I have to say that I was extremely impressed with both the presentation (in particular the quality of printing is extremely high - and, indeed, better than the original LP!) and pressing quality - the vinyl is TFS - thick, flat and silent.
The SQ on this new double LP is absolutely stunning - when I listened to it today I heard things I never heard before. It easily destroys the 1994 CD and LP, and also the 2011 CD remaster.
I don't have the gear to listen to either the hi-res (24/96) or 5.1 files, so I will have to go round my mate's house to give them a listen.
It has to be said, though, the TDB is a very, very long way from the Floyd at their best. It is a gigantic improvement on the 80s abomination that was A Momentary Lapse of Reason (not difficult) but sadly "A Great Day For Freedom", "Take It Back", "Coming Back To Life", "Keep Talking" and "Lost For Words" are right down there with the AMLOR stuff, although to be fair "High Hopes" is easily the best post-Waters Floyd song and the opening trio (side one of this new LP) "Cluster One", "What Do You Want From Me?" and "Poles Apart" are hugely impressive. The rest, sadly, is filler.
Spinning the vinyl right now.
The SQ amazing.
This sounds more like a re-recording, rather than a remaster. Destined to be played as a dem album for some time, I think... Like Kevin, I'm hearing things for the first time.
The packaging, as noted above, is top notch. Real feel of quality.
Happy, happy, happy.
Minor differences between original - LHS - and re-issue, RHS...
I keep vacillating between the box set and the stand alone vinyl - decisions decisions. I love this album as I saw it performed live. The trouble is pretty sure the box will just be filed and I'll only ever listen to the vinyl But the bis set does look nice.

Arrived, and I have to admit to being mighty impressed with the remix vinyl and its (totally silent) pressing.
Lots of stuff to work on now as well, this is not going to live 'in the box' it needs to be seen

It's not remixed, but it does draw upon the original analogue master tapes, so this is the first time there has been an all analogue version of the full length album.
The previous vinyl releases were on a single disc and were truncated in order to fit on a single disc.
The new vinyl version is spread out over two discs.
Glad to hear the positive reports, as I have just ordered it !
''The Division Bell 20th Anniversary collector's box set will feature a new 2-LP vinyl edition of the album, remastered by Doug Sax at The Mastering Lab from the original analogue tapes, including all the full length tracks (originally edited to fit on a single LP) in a gatefold sleeve designed by Hipgnosis/StormStudios''
Lets just say Doug Sax did a fantastic job.
It is also the quietest vinyl I have yet purchased, including the 12" EP & 7'' singles.
I gave in and bought the box set..... Received this morning and it does sound very good indeed.
Will explore the rest of the box set later this evening.

I am still waiting for my order from the official site for the full bundle.
If anyone got one of the first 500 where abouts is the box set number ?
Just got my boxed set down under in Aussie. One of 11 imported Im told. Very impressed and it will not sit on the shelf collecting dust. Im hearing sounds I didn't know were there. Happy as a pig in shit.

The first 500 came with a t-shirt, if you have the t-shirt you have one of the first 500!
Mine did.

The wording here is very clever.
The tapes might be analogue, but only the drums and bass are analogue recordings. Everything else is digital, which is v. impressive.
How can I be certain?
I asked Guy Pratt. :-)
Not only a 't-shirt' (which will be a bass trap very shortly) but also a nifty set of coasters if you were real quick off the mark
What chance of 'Pulse' being done in the same manner I wonder?
Now that would be really, really special.
We can hope :-)
I only have visiting rights to my original vinyl box set now.
