A Warning When Ripping

Posted by: GerryMcg on 16 February 2011

I had ripped over 400 CD's on my Unitiserve SSD whereupon the last CD I inserted failed to rip and remained  inside the Serve.

I tried powering down. disconnecting the Desk Top Client removing the ethernet plug all to no avail. Just now I powered down again and much to my relief and joy the CD ejected.

On closer inspection the label on the CD looked a bit odd, I rubbed it and it was a paper insert that through time had become adhered to the CD itself.

Beware.

Hi, I had the same problem. Cardboard label stuck on CD. I wasn't so lucky as the disc would not eject the CD.  A new drive was required and a modified front panel. The modified panel has a small hole below the disc slot, which I assume is to reset the disc drive

Cheers Dave

I have had similar issues . A number of my CDs have not been ejected. I have had to power down the serve. Wait and only then was it ejected.....sometimes after several tries like this. Additionally, some on my rips were "corrupted" for lack of a better word. They would appear in my music store with artist, info, artwork etc. But when selected it would quickly skip through each song and then go to the previous album I was listening too. My experience with the serve has been less than smooth thus far. The music; when playing was excellent. I have since returned my serve to my dealer and it is being tested, to see what the issue is. So now my ndac is sitting idle and I await the news. Hoping for a new unit , and one with the ssd drive; maybe less issues. Scot

Hi Scot,

The trouble for me was just with the CD with the cardboard attachment. Apart from this I have so far ripped over 800 CDs with no trouble.
