The War on Drugs - Lost in the dream

I realise it's still only April, but  methinks I already have my nomination for album of the year.

Gorgeous melodies, sumptuous arrangements - it's no surprise this record took one year to make.

As a 57-year-old, listening to this I feel confident that the future of quality music is in very safe hands. It's the kind of record which reminds me why I got interested in music 40-odd years ago.

Enjoying it too. More consistent than the last album Slave Ambient but that one still worth a listen too

If you are enjoying this you may also like Kurt Vile 'Wakin On A Pretty Daze'. Not a million miles away, slightly more laidback but plenty to enjoy.

I really like it too.

He sounds like David Gilmour doing a Bob Dylan impersonation. But in a good way.

For me WOAPD was one of 2013's best albums - the Kurt Vile connection was what pointed me toward TWOD.

Hope there's more to come from these two artists in the future.

Has anyone seen either of these two groups live - I'd be interested to hear how they reproduce the sound from their records.

Seen them both live. Saw war on drugs in a tiny place near elephant and castle when slave ambient came out. Absolutely superb. A friend also saw them at electric ballroom a little later and said they were too loud and a bit distorted.

Seen Kurt vile at Koko and also at Shepherds bush. He was ok but to be honest his voice got a bit on my nerves in a live situation. I love both his albums though.
