What should I listen to?

Posted by: joerand on 14 April 2014

I've grown a bit disenchanted with my music collection as of late. It's mostly rock from 1960s to mid 1980's. Just wondering what others might suggest I try as an alternative. Thanks.

Includes a truly stunning version of Bach's Chaconne, brilliantly transcribed for guitar (George has just had an heart-attack ). Platino, by the way, was a pupil of the great Manuel Barrueco.

A superb recording. Highly recommended form me too!

Forget it. Go for a run instead. You'll soon think of something.

Or if you play a musical instrument, play that and see where it takes you.

Both work for me when I need some musical inspiration.

ATB from George

Nice one, George  . I see you don't mind having your leg pulled a little

.

If you get chance, grab a copy of the Franco Platino disc - truly stunning. Regards.

Greg, not sure who/what you are referring to...... but I was talking about this ;

Sorry, been away for the week. Enjoying all the suggestions! Here's just a quick reply based on a quick look at the responses .....

Don't eat Cake, but love to listen to it. "Comfort Eagle" is part of my regular listening plus three other Cake CDs on my shelf .

Sound City - I posted a topic here on the film. Excellent suggestion. I have many LPs that were recorded there. Great sounding music.

The soundtracks suggestion is also excellent, esp John Wms. I remember years ago borrowing the "Jurassic Park" soundtrack CD from the library (I was on a wait list) and I like the "Raiders of the Lost Ark" music. I intended to buy the music from "Blade Runner" a while back.... need to follow up on that.

As far as the classical suggestions, I should just play the classical music that I have. Mostly Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Hayden. But I am familiar with the "Brandenburg Concertos" and I like the harpsichord.

So, thanks everyone for the food for thought for now. Time for me to get listening!
