Ring des Nibelungen - 16 GB USB Stick

Posted by: Ralf2013 on 14 April 2014

Hello,

does anybody has experience with Der Ring des Nibelungen, live recorded at Bayreuth 1991/92, conducted by Daniel Barenboim, published by  Warner on an USB stick?

How is SQ?

Thanks in advance

Ralf

Sound quality is fine as is the performance. Spent hrs trying to tag it correctly after copying to NAS drive though.  If I was doing it again I'd probably just listen to it from the stick. Much easier to rip from a cd when most of the tags are found automatically.

the best Ring is Furtwangler's recorded in 1953, an EMI remastered version.

If you are interested in Wagner, have a look at The Wagnerian web site, they recently had a vote on the 'Best Ring Cycle' of all time.

Barenboim came third.

I have this version on CD, the SQ is fine, though there are obviously a few stage noises.

The very early stereo version by Keiberth, again live at Bayreuth, is a worthy winner of the poll & the SQ of this 1955 recording is surprisingly good.

My all time favourite recording of the Ring is the studio version by Solti. His version of Gotterdammerung is amazing.

The stick arrived today. The sound files are provided as wav and mp3. Fortunately the mp3 files are tagged. So I could copy the tags with Metadatics. Only few minutes work. More time to enjoy the music
