MinimServer and n-Stream sort order

Posted by: NPR on 14 April 2014

Has anyone been able to successfully set up sorting the album view in nStream to Artist - Album without enabling UPnP compatibility mode (and thus maintain the ability to have playlists and the play now / next options etc) ?

Without UPnP compatibility set, it initially appears to display correctly for a second or two but then sorts alphabetically by album name only.

I have tried various settings in MinimServer Album.sortTags but to no avail.

Is this sorting something n-Stream is imposing or am I doing something wrong ?

Appreciate any advice

cheers,

Works fine for me . . . using Minimserver on DSM with N-stream and no problem at all.

Could the problem be with the metatagging? Or are you using Folder view? (Folder view is alphabetical).

Hi NPR

Its nstream that ignores what minimserver is sending it and displays the layout that nstream wants rather than what minimserver is telling it. Its blooming annoying.

The only way ive found to over come this is to use a setting in minimserver so that it sends the album artist as the album and vice versa to nstream.

This way in n album view the albums display by artist Name and not album name. Only dowside is that when a track is playing, nstream does not display the album title, it displays artist name, artist name, track title. But to be homest its a small price to pay, at least for me.

Thanks for your replies. Please can you tell me what are the Minimserver setting you have used so I can try.

(BTW. I'm using Album view)

Thanks,

I use the album view as its the only view where i can search via album artwork, which is important too me.

In Minimserver under the "server" tab on "aliasTags" i have "AlbumArtist:Album, Album:AlbumArtist". Try it see how it goes for you.

I would think you'd need to do a rescan in Minimserver and then a clear upnp cache in nstream.

Thanks Graeme for the info.

It does work, however, I'm missing approx 400 albums which then don't show up as an error in the scanning log, that shows only 20 or so with missing Album..  I'll investigate further to see if I can resolve…  thanks

I use a free app called "mp3tag" which is a tag editor. Its a great app for finding issues with your tagging. Unfortunately it doesnt work with wav files. But if you use flac or most others give it a try.

Hi Alex,

What are the settings you're using in Minimserver from the DSM  (I'm running mine from ReadyNas - Duo v2) ?   Did you have to do anything on AliasTag as well ?

thanks,

Thanks Graeme,

I've been using Metadatics to edit them. Don't understand why it's only reporting 20 odd as missing though
