Network/Switch Help

Occasionally I fire up n-stream to start a listening session and it can't find the streamer. Invariably some of the green lights on the back of my switch (Netgear GS105) are off. A simple reboot of the switch (power off/power on) and connection is restored and music can flow again.

My question is, why is this necessary and why does the switch not lose this connection all the time.

On simons advice per recent post i bought a cisco switch and reserved ip adresses for the key components. This gave a super reliable network

These Netgear switches are generally ok, but their power supplies are not very reliable. Try to get another 12v 1A PSU, it may solve your issue.
