"Crossed-Over" anyone....“Music for a while - Improvisations on Purcell”,

Dear all,

Knowing that in this forum - or portably the UK in general- many followers and connoisseurs of Henry Purcell cherish his music, I may well enter a “lion’s den” …hopefully none of you will be „crossed over“ by my  latest musical suggestion:

“Music for a while  - Improvisations on Purcell”, Christina Pluhar and l'arpeggiata

Details & samples here:

I admit that I’m not very familiar with the music of Purcell, even though Baroque belongs to my favourites. Hence I was rather surprised to stumble over this Purcell improvisations, where jazz & baroque seam to mend beautifully. The classical voices supported by jazzy rhythms on one hand and instruments long forgotten in today’s orchestras, such as the theorbo make sublime listening - Enjoy!

In the “deluxe version” there is also a DVD; unfortunately, it’s not the kind occasionally  found providing back ground info (“the making of)   but simply shows some the tracks also found on the CD  -  interesting viewing nevertheless.

Regards
