Problems with 24 Bite Studio master So Peter Gabriel

looking a little help - purchased the above from the B&W website download OK,  checked all files loaded on my PC,  which I can see all files and play on PC, on my NAS all files are there, but only one file is being seen by NDX - I was with Phil from Cymbiosis at the time - he had never seen this before any ideas guys?

Are there any funny characters or hidden characters in any of the metadata tags?

I have that download at home, and I'm pretty sure it plays fine served by the UnitiServe.

Check the metadata, and have your server re-scan.  It may simply have not picked up all the info the first time scanning.

As Bart says, it's very likely to be the tags. I've had the odd tagging glitch with SOS downloads, not often though.

I am not renewing my subscription due to this issue.  I emailed them about it and said "that's the way we get it from the label."  Almost all of the LSO files are faulty on some UPNP devices, though not all. (I now have them working if I use JRiver to control my streamer - which isn't a Naim device BTW.)

To get the files to work on all devices, I needed to convert them to WAV and then back to FLAC (or leave in WAV.)  The metadata also sucks - with the LSO files being tagged differently, even for the same composer, orchestra and conductor.  There's no excuse for this, given B&W only issues 2 albums a month.  I'll give HDTracks a bit of a pass on crappy metadata as they are dealing with 100s of labels, but not B&W.

I know it can't be the NAS or the NDX - I have downloaded Good bye yellow brick road from another site and it works perfectly - I can't understand why the NDX can only see 1 track

I to have sent them an email, not a great start to me using the B&W website for other HQ dowloads - looks like its going to be Linn from hear on in

NAS is a QNAP HS 210 which works perfectly with all other ripped music using dBpoweramp

await B&W resonce

Well amongst all the heartbreak and recrimination, you could just get on and change the tags, its hardly rocket science

Gary - thanks - found the tags on the files - give a clue on what to change?  - fairly new to all this - but learning fast

Hi Antony

If you have a PC then try a free app called mp3tag. Its a great little app for editing tags. It wont work on wav files though. If it only sees one track out of the album it should become obvious within mp3tag.

Are you sure that the single file that you are seeing isn't a playlist (*.pl or *.m3u) or a cuesheet (*.cue) file? Sometimes downloads consist of a single music file (wav or flac etc.) with a cue sheet which has all the data for splitting the file into individual tracks. If this is the case you can load the cuesheet into foobar2000 and extract the individual track files that way.

Another free app for this is cuetools. Again great little app

issues seem to be solved - from Linn inc in artist details - in between Jean - Michel and not being on the CD Cache - also on advise from Phil (Cymbiosis) changing ID tag to mirror album name when so it shows on IPAD - I think I have just about got to grips with ripping - ID - tags - downloads etc some 800+ CD's later

I think dBpoweramp say Rip once Rip right - can't buy a back up hardrive quick enough - don't want to loose that weekends work
