synology problems

I've had a long standing problem with iTunes and getting them into my 411. I spent 3 days last weekend going thru the files on my Mac on 411 and found an incredible number of bad files, missing tracks and then orphaned tracks. Once I got a grip on some of them dragging and dropping into the correct folder it was exhausting.
Even iTunes has messed up albums and I don't know why.
In iTunes ripping in the Advanced option what is the sequence of file formats for them to go direct to the 411? file/username/etc ?
My other problem is missing images and metadata on some.
Researching here I ordered a Userve SSD, after looking at the technical download I was figuring that it would get all of that corrected.
Am I right or wrong?
will I have to go thru my files one at a time and correct things or is it somewhat automatic? (i hope so)
You're going after 2 separate things:
1) fixing the files you've already ripped
2) getting new rips right.
I wouldn't spend any more time on this until you get the UServe. Start ripping with it, and see how it goes. It should be fantastic (i haven't used one, but seems perfect for what you want.) Its going to be far easier, higher quality, and even relatively painless, to do everything over on the UServe, even if its 100s or 1000s of CDs.
But, it *will not* fix files that you've already ripped.
itunes stores files, metadata and cover art in a very very complex structure. I wouldn't do anything short of dragging and dropping your entire library (the "Music/itunes" folder) otherwise, you'll end up with a bunch of orphaned files as you say. don't try to fix content you've dragged or copied out of iTunes. Re-Rip it on the Userve, flush your iTunes library, import *into* iTunes, then use that for all your iOS devices. Play your main system from the UServe.
I had already ripped over 2000 CDs previously but when I managed to get a used UServe, I re-ripped all the CDs and with nServe, it was easy to edit metadata and insert data where the CDs were "unknown." I agree with mutterback about doing it over with the UServe.

The uServe will not 'correct' problems with the files you've already ripped, unfortunately. It's indeed magical, but not THAT magical!
Thanks guys, the Userve arrived yesterday at 4pm, we're in a heat wave of 90 degrees I unpacked it but didn't have the energy to figure out the set up. I'm stumped on the registration. Too much of other issues going on right now.
I think you're right about letting it re rip CDs just a long process I didn't want to redo. I've also been cleaning LPs again after a 4 month break, now it's the classical collection and I think some of those will be sold since I don't listen to them much. My early jazz singers has greatly expanded.
I cat6 wired my Serve to Netgear and the NSSRV0CFF and Naim HD Player popped in.
Still doesn't get me into the 411.
I typed http://NSSRV0CFF into Safari and a weird Time Warner technical page opened up. What am I doing wrong?
I'm technology challenged, the referenced manual is no better than the quick Start Guide.
Mudwolf, to access your Synology nas, you should download and install DS Assistant from Synology. That will find your nas on your network and open a browser window in which the Synology DSM nas management software is running.
Hope this helps,
Bart
Oh Great Antlered one, thank you, the missing piece of the puzzle.
I took a friend food shopping and had Korean BBQ, a new experience for us, and it's still 90+ out BUT there is a breeze so it's bearable.
Now I can start ripping, while I'm cleaning vinyl. I bought the AutoDesk cleaner, rather pricy but so nice to be able to walk away while it's doing it's thing.
Well that was a long horrible experience, I'm glad others had an easier time. Even with SoundOrg help trying to update the USB driver was not working, 2 days later when I approached it again it was under devices, not on my desktop. Once that was done it was easy to find the synology file and then get password in, and BINGO!
It rips, it plays, it sings.
Thanks to all and esp Sound org and my dealer.
