Sad news

Well as of Wednesday i no longer own a hifi. Came home from picking the kids up to find that ive been burgled. They took every thing even the CD5XS that ive just bought... Am so gutted....
Very sorry to hear this - it must be an awful feeling way beyond the material impact.
Sad & bad news indeed
Are you insured OK? I know someone who lost his stuff & ended up having all replaced new for old, so you might have a silver lining.
Also the tea-leaf sold it on for a fix of something & whoever bought it then sold it on flea-bay, the cops got a line on that & recovered that 1 item, plus it led them to the original thief & although it could not be proven he stole the hifi, he was done for possession & supply of class-A & got something like 3 years.
Horrible invasion. Hope nothing irreplacable was taken.

its not the fact they stole all me hifi. its that they stole one of my lads Tablets..
that cant be replaced
DW - I am sorry to hear this. In addition to the material loss, in a similar situation I remember the horrible feeling of violation and that someone had been in my space without my permission and I was powerless to prevent it.
I hope you were insured for the material aspect, and will soon recover from all other aspects.
fully insured hopefully in contacted with insurance company in the proses of going thought a clam... Not sure what new items they will offer because of what i had.
Bad news indeed. A thought however, if you have your Naim serial numbers it might be worth flagging them to Naim as being stolen - it might hugely reduce the potential resale value or even potentially help in regaining them - as I think I am right that Naim keep a record.

........ in the proses of going thought a clam...
Hopefully they will shell out .

Sorry to hear about the break-in DarkWhisper. Best of luck with quickly recovering your losses.
This is a reminder for all of us to take pictures, save receipts, list serial numbers, and so on. An accurate inventory is the key to settling an insurance claim fairly.
I lost a couple of grand worth of tools to a garage break-in a few years back. I had not maintained a proper inventory, and eventually gave up on filing a claim. It was a doubly painful lesson that I hope others can avoid.

That truly sucks. I've been burgled once and it hurt the wallet. It cost me a lot of money, that I didn't really have, to replace stuff.
Good luck with the insurance claim. You'll need it. Grubs will do whatever they can to avoid paying you. That's the business they're in.

Well theres a few opitions ive been told. cash settlement. replace old with new. vouchers..
Problem is
1, Old for new.. WHAT new will that be. Def want the Naim CD5XS back.
2, Cash. How much...... = will i even be able to buy the same or even better...
3, Vouchers.. Well the vouchers wont work, its not as if we get our stuff from agros or currys... Will Will have to wait and see.
I don't want to think about this scenario. I wouldn't have the funds to get back what I have right now.
I hope you will be lucky and the police will be able to recover what has been stolen in a good state.
Sorry to hear about that DW. In 95 I had all my CDs swiped (over a thousand then) and most of my hifi. They left the mono blocks as they were too heavy. It turned out it was a jealous ex of my current (then) partner! So start making a list of people your family know, including the kids friends.
Terrible news. It can be very disturbing but if at all possible one should look to the future and concentrate of converting the experience to a positive future - insurance permitting.
I wish you all the best with it and look forward to hearing how it pans out.
The other thing you need to think about is how to prevent the next break in because it is often the case that the thieves will wait until the insurance company has replaced the stolen equipment then steal the replacement.

Is it really? What's the evidence for that?
Sadly, Lionel is correct Winky. About 12 times more likely than average In the first month.

a harrowing story indeed, but hey, the police should do something, right?
i mean, the burglars can't sell the stuff they stole just like this, can they?
Sorry to hear your bad news, DarkWhisper. Hopefully the scumbags that stole your kit will have real difficulty off-loading it. After all, Naim kit isn't the sort of thing most folk buy on a casual basis. To them it's probably a bit esoteric. You need to appreciate it to want it and a proper Naim buyer will probably be concerned about provenance.
Meanwhile I hope the insurance company treats you well.

Sorry to hear that, my parents(many years ago) and my eldest son( quite recently) were victims of burglar scumbags and it's a miserable business altogether.
Hope it's all resolved to your satisfaction and that the perpetrators are caught and executed(wishful thinking)
Very sorry to hear this.
They should have their hands chopped off.
The insurance company should replace like for like. When I had to make a claim for my 'broken Sony LCD) that I accidentally damaged they replaced it with the latest model.
I used to do insurance claims when I worked for Sevenoaks, All somebody had to do was bring in a list of items lost and we would write a letter to insurance company explaining the replacements on company headed paper and that was usually all that was needed. Explain it's specialized equipment. Hopefully you still have the original boxes taht will have the serial numbers on and receipts and that way you can prove to some extent the products you owned
As you bought the CD5 XS very recently, all you need to do is provide a copy of the receipt for any claim on your insurance. Even if you have lost the receipt, the dealer will still have a copy.
I know that only solves part of your problems, but at least it's a start.
