Hdtracks Cosi Fan Tutte

Posted by: David O'Higgins on 03 May 2014

While I know that most of you cannot download from this site yet, maybe someone who got lucky  may have experienced the following problem. I downloaded Cosi Fan Tutte last week. There are 68 tracks, but the downloaded tracks are out of sequence. I had the same experience with Neil Diamond's Hot August Night and I created a playlist in the right sequence to get around it. I don't feel like attempting that with the Mozart. I would always have the nagging feeling that it might me out of sequence. It may be a problem common to multi disc albums?

All advice welcome.

If by cannot download you mean that you are blocked to download some albums because of regional restrictions,  you might try a free download of an IP Blocker.     I started this evening trying to get Norah Jones (hi-res) but was blocked. 30 mins later after IP Block was loaded,  I am about to pour a large red from Stellenbosch & press play for Ms Jones.

Use a free app like mp3tag to tag them in the correct order. Very easy and simple to use. I believe this is only for windows and its on version 2.59 now.

But how do I determine the correct order?

If the order given by hdtracks website is wrong (is it really 68 and not 64 tracks?) then you could use the DG site or contact them direct if you believe the track names have been 'scrambled'.

Are the track listing not included with the artwork on the download. Check amazon for track listing

If you read the libretto as you listen, you'll soon discover if the tracks are in the right order!

btw, in case you don't know the opera or libretto, it is definitely Parental Advisory Explicit Content! Girlfriend swapping, infidelity, promiscuity, under-age sex, deceit  - all interwoven with some of the most beautiful music Mozart, or anyone, ever wrote. I saw the excellent Live from the Met  performance last week at my local cinema. Wonderful. (apart from the lame apologies for the political uncorrectness of the content).

Mike

Any chance you could be a bit more specific on what you use.

There are a few around if you search www ....... the usual heading is something like IP Blocking Software.

They all cost, aprx $40 £25 a year,  but they all offer a free trail. Not sure how long the trail period is,  but I will just keep going until I get zapped; then when I need to shop on HDT again I will go get another free trail, or if they recognise me as a previous user, I'll go get another program.

Hopefully by then HDT will be fully operational in Europe

One thing to watch is to only switch the prog "on" when you are shopping otherwise it confuses the hell out of some other programs you might use, I am not that interested on BBC weather for New York.  Or if you use it for what its intended for - to hide your real IP when using public www hotspots - turn it on then.

Thanks Mike

Tried some free ones to no avail, will try the paid versions. Used to use a proxy server but that does'nt seem to work now.

Honestly never know it so hard to give a company your hard earned cash. Wish the UK site would open up.

I recently sent them a communication asking when the UK site is opening.

The reply was not too helpful - "We currently are not available internationally. This is due to record label restrictions on high res digital downloads. We are seeking to launch internationally soon. But at this moment I do not have an exact time period"

If you can get on, or maybe another HD site,  & you like Eagles - get a 192/24 copy of Hotel California - stunning just about sums it up.

I have come to the conclusion that all HD tracks are not the same SQ.  Some are outstanding, others are a little more refined than 44/16 but nothing like the leap up the SQ ladder to what the best can do.

I've quickly learned to read up & put some trust in record reviews on a specific HD release before parting with cash.

Totally agree, Hotel California is stunning. Got this in before the proxy stopped.

How did you get on with Norah, is it "Come Away With Me".

Ms Jones is equal y good SQ wise.  Its a remastered release specificity for 192/24 taken from the original master tapes - & I undrstand with the same engineers & studio.

But the Eagles is something else to me.  I'm an old crusty hippy.  I grew up & raised my kids on this stuff, so know every nuance in the record & to hear it all like this is like,  well it must be like a someone getting ears syringed.  Magic.

Very true,

iI have around 30 downloads from HDtracks and they do vary. Last week I downloaded 'Fresh Cream' and it is abysmal, the CD stream is far better.

Well, I'm sorting out the Cosi Fan Tutte by copying track by track to 3 separate folders, mirroring the CD version.

I've bought about 30 albums so far, and not a bad one among them, including all the available Bob Dylan. Long may the open window last!

An addendum to the above: I have downloaded 4 multi album files from HDtracks, and they have all ended up like the Cosi Fan Tutte. For Mahler 2/Rattle and Hot August Night, I created playlists in NServe. For The Eagles Studio Albums, I am going to have to spend a few hours creating separate folders, unless someone can suggest something better?

Metadatics on mac.

Still takes some time to tag but very versatile program and time taken becomes much less with familiarity. A major advantage is not having to split acts across discs
