Asset Problem

Posted by: musica on 10 May 2014

I have during the last couple of days been trying out Asset on my Win7 pc streaming to NDX and controlling with nstream. All has been going well. I have ripped albums to my windows library, created a playlist in iTunes and exported it to my windows library in M3U. All absolutely fine and managed with nstream..Artwork and metadata all fine. The suddenly all music disappeared from Asset. I have tried the following to no avail.

Re-scanned library ,which did not appear to function.

R started Asset.

Re installed Asset

Re booted pc.

Cleared Windows music library and repopulated it.

None of these worked Asset still showing 0 tracks and 0 albums.

Can anyone please help.

Philip,

I don't use Asset myself but I know that Mr Spoon who developed this software does frequent this forum so I'm bumping your post and hopefully he'll see it and chime in. I would say that it seems that you have an issue with Asset's library database file so it might be useful to look into the program's settings to see where this library file is located and check that it is not corrupted. You might also check  the settings to see which folders on your computer are monitored for adding files and updating files automatically and ensure that the folders where you save your music files are included. I hope these suggestions make sense as this is how my media server software (JRiver) works and I'd expect Asset to work in a similar fashion.

I'm assuming here that all your music files are still on your computer and haven't been accidentally deleted.

Good luck.

On Assets configuration page, check where it is set monitor.

Then browse that location using Windows File Explorer to make sure it is available.

Thanks for the replies. I have checked the config.page and found that the path for the windows library which is the source is correct. Since my original post I have tried the following. I created a share on my nas into which I loaded a few albums. I then added this file in the Asset config page In ad file. I then restarted Asset. After the restart the albums on the nas share we're found by asset. These albums were streamed successfully to my NDX. I the added a further two albums to the nas share. These however were not picked up by Asset Even after a restart of Asset. I also tried rescan but this feature does not appear to work. I can't help thinking that this is a scanning problem. I should point out that I am using the free trial version of Asset.

Problem solved. The problem was that I had added a playlist into the same music library folder as the albums and then configured asset source file to "contains playlists". This resulted in all the albums disappearing when Asset rescanned. I have now created two shares on my nas, one containing albums and One containing playlists. This all works fine using nstream. One other point, I intend having Asset installed on a nas with the QNAP version. Will this perform the same as trial version I am currently using.
