Biamping DAC V1
Posted by: Colesy on 14 May 2014
Is it at all possible to biamp from the V1?
From reading around it seems the answer is no, but it's always worth asking.

With two NAP 100s, yes (need RCA phono x 2 to daisy-chain)
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I have a NAP250, so would be hoping to biamp with two of these.
So I suppose a separate Naim pre would be the only option to biamp with two 250's?
Check out @blorbed's active system (posts on 13th October) https://forums.naimaudio.com/to...52#30569816362144752

You sure that would work David?

You can also biamp a SuperNait or SuperUniti with a 250 as well... not sure about the other integrated amps in the range.
I tried Biamping my SU + 250, and didn't get along with it. That said, others swear by it (California Jim being maybe the best example).

From the manual: "The DIN and RCA signal input sockets are connected in parallel"... this would provide stereo (horizontal) bi-amp capability.
Another option would be to use the RCA phono outputs on the DAC-V1 into the RCA phono input sockets as mono amps, using a custom 4-pin jumper between channels - this would permit vertical bi-amp operation, separating the amps using a suitably long RCA phono lead.
...somehow this reminds me of a conversation I had with Doug in the car after RMAF, regarding the half-width DAC / amp combo that was to become the DAC-V1 / NAP 100-I distinctly remember suggesting that this might be a possible use case...!
Is a splitter something that could be used? I've seen flashback sell a din splitter so two power amps can be run in this situation.
Does anyone have any experience of these?
Or I suppose a flatcap or similar could be used as an expensive splitter?
Have been reading around and passive biamping sounds like a grey area of an upgrade, so have been reading into active bi-amping.
Would connecting the V1 to a NAXO or SNAXO be feasible?

You would need a HICAP DR and a SNAXO (and another amp), assuming that your speakers could be actively bi-amped....
