Football Season 2014 - 2015

Posted by: Steve J on 18 May 2014

As requested here is the new season's thread.

Obviously the first picture has to be of the best team in the land winning 'last year's' Premier League title for the second time in 3 years.

At least the title stayed in Manchester Chris.

Err.....sorry, that would be 4-0.  Are Man U Brazil in disguise?

How Gaaling for them.

Indeed Mista. I was there. We didn't do a lot wrong, to be fair, but we didn't get the clinical finish bit right. To lose to a team as awful as the Blunts and their dreadful, self-pitying fans was terribly humiliating. But on the bright side, there were a few Tevez masks being worn, and the new signings are looking good.

Anyone seen Mr Dolan today?

Guy who sat next to me at Brentford last night has stuck 50 quid @ 14-1 on Fulham getting relegated. Looks like a worthwhile bet to me.

Arsenal have a tough fixture tonight with the spectre of the away goal.

Posted on: 27 August 2014 by MDS

My lot convincingly beaten 3-0 at Stoke tonight so the 12-game unbeaten run under Andy Awford comes to an end............but at least we did better than Man U!

As a Gooner it's almost the most nerve-wracking game I've watched in nearly half a century.

Exactly what happened to Saints, Mista, but, looking for the positive, there is a way back.

They were lucky with the penalty decisions, especially Jack Wiltshire's. Wenger wouldn't have been very happy if it was the other way.

do you recognise the face Kevin ? our new captain stepping off the team bus at Bentford the other nite.

Can we have him back please Mista?

Another abject performance. And no, I'm not talking about Man U either.

Our third defeat in a row at home. Southampton deserved their win - they were hungrier, better organised, superior in just about every respect. Hippo Head, clueless as ever, included two Championship players, Cole and Vaz Te, in his starting line up and was thoroughly outwitted tactically by Koeman.

I look forward (actually I don't) to Fatty's post-match interview in which I suspect he'll blame: 1) the fans, for having the temerity to demand entertainment; 2) God, for Nolan's injury 3) the officials 4) the tea lady at Upton Park 5) Anyone and everyone else, just so he doesn't have to admit a mistake or accept any responsibility. What makes it worse is that we'll have to put up with all his media mates, like that clueless **** Shearer, saying how we'd be relegated if we got rid.

For pity's sake man, have some dignity and just go. Your blend of Big Fat Sam 1-D Neanderthal "Football" isn't working, and is no longer required at West Ham. The fans hate you. And if you haven't got the self-awareness to realise this, perhaps the Dildo Twins should each grow a pair and sack you.

When I heard him being interviewed on 5-live it was your option (3), Kevin

Well, he was never going to accept responsibility himself, was he. If the officials were at fault, it was for disallowing what looked like a perfectly good Saints goal.

One of our better players these days kevin, but at 33 he looks like he is having trouble doing 90 mins.

Was taken off near the end today  and looked cattle trucked to me.

We now have 1 frigging point out of 15.....good or what. Magoo needs to go and fast, but our owner is still backing the clown. No more away games for me now until our football improves.

First time i've covered an Arsenal game for a long time yesterday and...you don't don't stand a chance of winning the title. Too many similar players doing the same thing and it's a no-go for Sonogo. You need some height & physicality in the middle if you want to compete with Chelsea & City and both of them teams can play too.

Sanchez worked his socks off though.

After the summer SFC fans have had to endure, both in the media and online forums, surely no one would begrudge them now having a smile on their faces? RonKo, in an interview after the game, has said that “if we play like we did in the 2nd half against the Hammers, we could make 7th or 6th this season in the EPL”. Business as usual at St Mary's then.

Very entertaining matches this past weekend!

Chelsea 6, Everton 3.  Great pace, lots of fun. Not hard to see why Chelsea is favored right now. Wonder what Costa said to taunt Coleman and piss off Howard after the own goal?

Stoke 1, Man City 0.  Perfect team defense by Stoke, and a wonderful solo effort by Diouf. If the league keeps stats for headers won, Crouch must have set some kind of single match record.

Liverpool 3, Tottenham 0.  Nice away win, and a good comeback after last week's loss at Man City.  Balotelli showed rust...but even more promise IMO. Alberto Moreno looks very impressive at left back.

Arsenal 1, Leicester City 1.  After ties with Arsenal and Everton, and only a loss to Chelsea, LC is off to a fine start. If they play this well all season, I think they will easily stay up, and maybe even contend to be a top half team. Looking forward to seeing them play at Stoke next weekend.

ATB.

We are indeed, Mista H. Expectation is high at Fratton Park, probably a bit too high, but I would be pleased to see us competing for the play-offs. The club has always been pretty well supported and I think the gates last season and this are in part due to the fans buying the club so we know what we pay is going to the club and not lining the pockets of shadowier owners. We've had more than our fair share of those in past years.  Good recent example of fans putting their hands in their pocket was the raising of £250k to pay for a couple of decent pitches to help support the academy.

There's a great atmosphere at Fratton Park these days though the downside is that most League 2 players rarely experience it so the away sides typically lift their game, too!  Witness we lost 1-0 at home to a muscular Newport County side on Saturday.
