Football Season 2014 - 2015

Posted by: Steve J on 18 May 2014

As requested here is the new season's thread.

Obviously the first picture has to be of the best team in the land winning 'last year's' Premier League title for the second time in 3 years.

At least the title stayed in Manchester Chris.

£835 million spent in the summer transfer window by 20 Premier League clubs 'buying' people to kick a ball.

That is simply obscene.

This crazy world. Oh what I could do for my community with 0.1% of that money.

That's capitalism for you.

But I think SFC have done some good business in the window though.

Just an observation on the state of English Football and the knock-on effect to the England team. You can see his point, I don't see the National team coming out of this for 10-15 years even if we started today.

As the article ends with saying "Barely a proven England player in sight. The business of modern football has kicked them to the margins".

True, but sadly, because the majority aren't good enough. Why, or how we improve the situation, is for another thread/forum I think. Clubs like SFC are going someway to rectify the situation, by developing home players, but as this transfer window has shown, the best players still end up at the top clubs because of the way English football is financed. Foreign owners = Foreign managers = Foreign players.

Looks like the line up for Man Us next league game will be 2 defenders,2 midfielders and 6 strikers(all on megabucks wages)....Falcao,Rooney,Van Persie,Mata,Di Maria and Januiza. Have i left anybody out ??

Or maybe they will put some earning £300,000 a week on the bench !!

Crazy, mad, stupid, bonkers are the words that come to mind.

It's what you can do when you are the richest club in the league and only get 2 points from your opening 3 league games. We'll let them off losing to MK Dons as they fielded their reserve team. Bring back David Moyes I say.

I'm very happy with the recent acquisitions that United have made. Looking forward to an improvement in results - which will come

just been sent this e mail by a VERY close friend of mine, who just happens to be a Chelsea STH.

Was hoping that we would sign Falcao, he is a class act, but @ £340k per week, (£48, 571.43 per day, over £2k per hour even when he is asleep!) I can see why even we and even Real Madbid blinked. World gone mad. Bring on Ryan 'sorry I didn't mean to kick you in the stands/break your other leg' Shawcross. What next Messi for the underperforming Man City?

The difference between the have's and the stupid - Luke Shaw unproven left back, £30m, who is allegedly too out of condition, (pass me another chocolate bar), to play -'in'; Danny Welbeck striker, England International, £16m -'out' - good business and makes perfect sense - really? Man U must be more desperate, than the most desperate thing from the planet really desperate in the galaxy Desperado - two points out of nine, still that's twice as many as Fulham. Early doors but I cannot see them in the top four at the end of the season, nor Man U.

Can anyone following this topic please explain to me(me of few brain cells) why or how Magoo  hasn`t had a P45 well and truly shoved up his backside and slung stark naked in the Thames???

We must be the laughing stock of football. Its now 1 point from 18.....and kevin moans about the West Ham manager.

CFC have been my tip for the Premiership from day one, Jamie, so I'm not surprised by the strong start. I am though surprised at the leaky defence. Most un-Mourinho like.  Also rather surprised to see Man City dropping so many points so early.  That said, it's a long old season so there's bound to be some ups and downs.

Rio not having a happy return to Old Trafford so far this afternoon. 3-0 down at half-time. And Falcao still to come.

Well that was a lot better from United. Should be a much better journey home this evening.

Meanwhile in the Championship , Nottingham Forest take on Fulham tonight,

Forest having not lost  a game so far this season compared to Fulham who have not won a game this season ,  as sods law will confirm can only end one way ....

Would have been going tonite TWP,but i have told the guys i go to away games with that i have had enough of clocking up the miles to watch a load of dross. I am just keeping my fingers crossed that after we get stuffed tonite that our chairman comes to his senses and sticks a P45 up Mista magoos arse backside.

We now have 1 point from 18 which is a total and utter joke. We have sacked far,far better managers than this clown we have now. I just hope that this time tomorrow magoo is gone.

Mista h ,

looking at the League table i would expect a 3 -0  Forest win, Confidence within the team seems high at present especially with Stuart Pearce in charge who so far has shown he knows his stuff . He has spent money well and been fairly ruthless in getting rid of players who dont fit  , even managed to pursuade Michael Manciene to come to the championship from Hamburg and he has shown his quality in each game.

That said we will be without two of our better players due to injury  in Chris Cohen and Andy Reid following the game against our poorer and smaller neighbours Derby , so if "fulhams premiership players " get into gear it should be a more even contest than the table indicates.

I think Fulhams issue may be the one Wolves had previously when they dropped out of the premier league.  , players not wanting to be there and just happy to recieve the salary.

Good luck for the rest of the season , except this evening of course!

I presume you are going tonite!!    Do post tomorrow on how the game goes. I would like to know how our number 14 Patrick Roberts does. The kid is only 17,but a real quality player, who magoo either leaves on the bench or brings on with 15 mins to go. The man hasn`t got a clue how to pick a football team.

Well it sounds as if it was quite some game. Fulham coming back from 2-0 down to lead 3-2 before Forest romped to a 5-3 win.  Not much consolation for Fulham fans or the hapless Magath who the Evening Standard said would get the chop if Fulham didn't win tonight but great entertainment.
