Football Season 2014 - 2015

Posted by: Steve J on 18 May 2014

As requested here is the new season's thread.

Obviously the first picture has to be of the best team in the land winning 'last year's' Premier League title for the second time in 3 years.

At least the title stayed in Manchester Chris.

From Club Call.

Jason.

Apparently he has wanted out for a while, Jason, so it's quite possible. He is a good player, but can be a bit moody/lazy at times. Would he fit in at Rodger's Liverpool? Dunno.

I think he has the biggest impact when he comes on as a sub.

Well - I am more enthused about LvG than I ever was about Sir David tbh. There was an element of duty in that support that has gone now - but I don't want to sound disloyal.

I semi-predicted LvG back in March - I wish that I had put a few quid on it back then. I'm pleased that Giggs has been retained rather than bringing in a full new magagement team - that was again a problem with the change last season.

The talk at OT towards the end of last season was a preference for Carlo Ancelotti (assuming Pep Guardiola was impossible) - but that was never likely after Real Madrid got past Bayern Munich - although they bottled La Liga in a more dramatic way than Liverpool did in the Premiership.

Bizarrely Guardiola's standing has diminished now - despite a domestic double!! Tika-Taka might be discreditted but I don't want to park the bus.

Also United have traditionally used proper wingers - but that is sort of changing - although wierdly United apparently had more crosses than most teams last season.

So - yes - it will be good. I feel 21

There was a programme dealer at Griffin Park on matchdays, don't know if he is still in business.

David Moyes is being investigated over an allegation he assaulted a man in a wine bar.

And people think he's not ready for the Celtic job...

QPR back in The Prem with 10 men and 10 seconds of normal time left!

Great header by Ramos in the 93rd minute!  1-1 at end of regulation.  AM looks out of gas. Got to think their best chance now, maybe their only chance, is if it goes to pk's.

The commentator said we could have gotten 6500-1 odds at the beginning of the season for AM to win the "double".  How would you like to have been holding that ticket, only to see it slip away with 2 minutes left?

Overtime begins...!

Ross Barkley is going to Accrington Stanley for £12M

Congratulations QPR from Forest Fans everywhere

A/M within  2 mins of a win,and to blow it 4-1,nothing as strange as football.

What i do think is wrong they said at the start each team only got 17,000 tickets. I think R/M could have filled the stadium on their own. Looked a big stadium to me,who got the rest of the tickets??

Well I have to say, probably down to my ignorance, that I was not expecting such a battle between the Madrid teams.  Within normal time Athletico were quite magnificent (if a bit overly aggressive), particularly the way they set about the second half when I expected the double decker bus to be parked in their goal net; instead they attacked Real with great vigour and pinned them in their own half for prolonged periods.

They just ran completely out of puff in extra time and were like rag dolls in the second period of that.

Fantastic game and a great advert for the sport. (Post game tantrums notwithstanding!).

Yes, I agree with that.  AM just didn't or couldn't maintain the energy in extra time.  Well done to Real though.  In some ways I think they deserved the title after what they did to B Munich in the semi-final.
